It was a typical Monday morning at DDD High School. The sun was shining, the birds were singing, the international transfer students were fighting, girls were swooning over Mr. Dylandy as his car pulled into the lot, the cliques were gathering, and Kaito was determined to get himself a study partner for the fast-approaching midterm exams.

His target was Minatsuki.

"Hey, Minatsuki!" he called as he approached; her back was turned to him, and he jogged to catch up with her. "Oi, oi, do you want to study with me--"

He hadn't even managed to touch her shoulder when she whirled around and kicked him in the crotch, and Kaito went down to the ground like a sack of bricks, groaning in pain.

Minatsuki gasped and clapped her hands over her mouth. "Oh my gosh! K-Kaito, I'm so sorry, I didn't know you were talking about studying! Oh my gosh, are you okay?!" She knelt down beside him, and just as he was about to give her some smartass comment back, she grabbed a fistful of his hair and pulled. "Play along," she hissed in his ear, "or there won't be anything left for me to kick next time."

Kaito wisely shut up, and carried her bag for the rest of the day. She did agree to study with him, though.
