This time, Rose found him on another wall, examining his outstretched arm. From her vantage point, she could just make out that his sleeve was rolled up. A swirling red mark covered his arm.

Naesala noticed her almost immediately, and quickly pulled his sleeve back down. To his credit, his voice didn't shake at all. "Rose. My apologies for leaving you - I'm not a very good host, you see."

Rose didn't waste any time. "What is the matter with your arm?"

"Nothing I did," he answered smoothly. "It's just something I caught from my predecessor. I can handle it."
