And the sea we are sailing on, it touches every land.

As a nation, Sealand had a special relationship with his land. He was hurt when parts of it were destroyed, and when pieces of it malfunctioned he got sick.

As an island nation, Sealand had a special relationship with the open sea. It wasn't really a part of him, but parts of it belonged to him, and he watched over it diligently, checking for pollution, excessive fishing, or other such things. The rest of the Atlantic Ocean was a pathway that brought together he and America, Canada, Ireland, England... He guarded over it too, not willing to lose that connection.
