Okay. Okay. Okay. So he might’ve called Yu in a panic about it. But, okay, that worst phone call in his life since Kanji’s shadow hit the TV aside, what was the problem? Well. Okay, besides everything. Look, alright, he’s used to weird. Sort of. The Shadow sort of weird, anyway, and that had to rank pretty high up there. Teddie’s got enough weird to fill his screwy previously empty body.

But the thing is. This time thing? That’s. Actually kind of a big deal. That’s normal, right? It’s normal to think that’d probably get screwy. Hello, he’s seen Back to the Future, he knows what happens when the wrong guy dates the wrong girl, and it ain’t pretty. Not gonna fade out here, thank you. Or, worse, what if it’d change even more things? What if he had to go to the past, and then he never meets...

Or what if Reiko’s supposed to meet someone, real sweet sweep of your feet style, and he just messes all that up and Takashi sends him increasing volumes of spam for revenge. Pretty sure you’re not supposed to date someone’s grandma. Isn’t that in the rules somewhere, right next to sisters?

So maybe if he just crosses his fingers really tightly, all of this’ll go away, because it has to. He can’t keep wanting to make her laugh like this. He can’t. He can’t keep looking at those little scratches she has sometimes, when Grandmas try to mug her, and hoping it’s not those assholes in her village again. He really can’t. He can’t keep thinking about how nice she looks when she smiles, or the look in her eyes when he’s sure she understands him--
