Kefka could, too, he tends to bumble into meeting people and forgets to mention he's a god of evil for a few months.

OH NO! (OH YES!) Kefka leaves for a few minutes and comes back to find that the blight and destruction he's worked so hard to make has disappeared! Why are there flowers? What???

(and maybe kefka gets enthusiastic talking about poisonous plants as well?)

Funny you should mention that. That plot Stanley has going on with Greed involves making plants of dubious use. I can see Kefka mentioning sudden flowers everywhere and Greed taking notice. It's all about who you know. :)

On that note, you ought to read about Stanley's Green Thumb. It's full of delicious plot device potential.

Yep ;D Kefka has some living plant monsters on his world as well, so Stanley might have fun with them! Or Kefka could attempt to make more.

That is a really cool power! Kefka getting it could end really badly. But he'd want it anyway because he is ridiculous.

...Stanley taming Malboros is a terrifying yet hilarious thought.

And such a power is not out of reach for Kefka - all he has to do is gain Stanley's trust. It's not hard to get!

Plus there are vine monsters running around that have really ridiculously high defense and low hp, if I recall correctly, and some killer tumbleweeds. AND CACTUARS. IMAGINE STANLEY WITH CACTUARS.

I'm torn between the hilarity of Kefka with the power of creation, the potential character development of him getting creation powers or him failing to get them and sulking off for a week. And the potential talks they could have!

Cactuars in FF6 pay out a lot of Gil, right? Oh man! It's win/win for Stanley; if an allied Cactuar lives, he's an evasive little bastard with an attack that always hits and always does the same amount of damage to everybody, no exceptions. If said Cactuar dies, Stanley gets lots of Gil. He's not going to know what to do with all that money (or Needles).

I see no reason why Kefka could not get the Green Thumb. I mean, Gus could do it and he's like five years old. Kefka already has incredible power at his disposal and is very good at destroying, but I doubt he's had much experience at building things. It's be a relatively new experience for him, testing out the Thumb and finding out that as he was going nuts with it he managed to bring the world back to life, or unwittingly (re)built towns, or made plant critters that are helpful instead of the terrors that he'd prefer.

I would think that Kefka building CR with Stanley to the point where Stanley teaches him the way of the Thumb, Kefka playing with his new toy, and only when its too late realizes that he made things instead of destroying them and it was so easy.

How's that for a revelation?

FF6 Cactuars are full of gil! Stanley will profit either way, either in money or in allies.

I was thinking more 'does kefka need more powers, he's already ridiculous' rather than 'can he handle it' |D He built the Tower but that's pretty much it, I think, and even that was pretty haphazard. It's just chunks of destroyed city and rock mashed together! Doing some real creation would capture his interest and help him pull back from his highly self destructive mindset of 'if we're all going to die, what's the point in living?'

He's been helping people out for so long already because 'it will derail the plot and help me find the world square enid is from that will let me destroy all iterations of my universe,' which has slowly turned into him helping people he likes because he likes them. This can start him on realizing that he's actually doing good things! And - he'd probably have trouble with how Good and Kind Stanley was if they had met a year ago, but two and a half years of concentrated goodwill from the community are starting to get under his skin.

Which gives him a nice shove into the revelation zone! Which is a really awesome idea!! 8D
twobloomsup: Very magical. (Let me show you my moves.)

To be honest, Stanley needs resources and allies because right now he's a hippie living in a cave under a bridge (har har) in Central Park. He could be living like a king with proper use of the Thumb, but like I've said, Stanley is stunted in more ways than one. He would just need someone to show him how to use his newfound cash and minions friends.

Yes, Kefka is ridiculous. But I'd say that making someone or something that is already overpowered even more overpowered would be acceptable if the result is bound to be entertaining. >:) And I'd like to jump at the chance to have Stanley do the influencing for once, even if he doesn't realize he's doing it.

It's what happens when you think in terms of "If I do this, what is likely to happen?" rather than "how overpowered is too overpowered?" But things like that are why we have planning posts. :)

And Kefka, he of the ambition and living the hedonist's life, could give him a hand with that! I head canon that Kefka took on a mentor/big brother role with Celes and he's been trying to relive that on the community by giving advice to Celes-like people - so taking in someone with fantastic powers and teaching them how to live in society would be up his alley. We'd also have Kefka's very cynical worldview, where he assumes almost everyone has malice or betrayal up their sleeve, crashing against Stanley's optemistic and loving worldview!

Indeed >8D And he could definitely do a lot of influencing! Especially since he's not intending anything - Kefka hates people purposefully trying to manipulate him, but earnest trust that he can't see any malice at all in? Pfff he has nothing to worry about there, no sir.

Yeah! And so now it can commence! Is there anything else you want to do with Stanley and Kefka?
twobloomsup: Did not expect that (Surprise)

[personal profile] twobloomsup 2013-10-03 05:18 pm (UTC)(link)
It takes someone so innocent and optimistic (and great powers, natch) to give Kefka a revelation that he literally did not and could not exist in his world. *zen.jpg* They are great foils for each other, come to think of it.

Delicious irony, Kefka has it. Stanley wouldn't have any clue how to deceive people intentionally, not that it matters since he never tries to be.

All we need is some excuse for the two to meet - and lo and behold, I spy your recent post on the comm. IT WILL BE BY PURE CHANCE THAT THESE TWO DESTINIES ARE FOREVER ALTERED. Also, Stanley's trying to be an interdimensional tourist of sorts; since Greed's mun is on hiatus the plot I have going with him has been stalled. How about at some point Kefka plays tour guide to Stanley? It does not have to be Kefka's native world either.

Yeah! They're on opposite sides of the morality scale, and Kefka's creepy to Stanley's cute. Kefka can show him around his world or a couple others! He knows a few.

What made you interested in playing Stanley? I'm curious!

Stanley was, in a few ways, a very good character to cut your teeth on when roleplaying. Technically, I roleplayed before, but not only had it been years, I was also not someone you could say was much good at it.

Stanley's a simple character who has a surprising amount of agency thanks to his Green Thumb, and with only one movie as canon it is easy to unblind yourself to his story. He's my training wheels, in other words.

That, and I am dead certain that I am the only mun on Dreamwidth who plays ANY character from A Troll In Central Park, let alone its protagonist. I like not being the 22nd Marvel character or tenth Edward Elric, what can I say.

Aha! Coooool. Has he been fun so far? (well, i suppose so if you're still playing him, but hopefully ddd has been a good place!)

I hadn't heard of the movie until I saw Stanley, actually! I did some research this morning on it.

DDD is probably the best place for Stanley, to be honest. And yes, he's been fun. :)

That movie is very obscure.
