BASICALLY, just explain to everyone what your character's username means or why you made it. There are a lot of cool ones here and I want to see how you guys came up with it. Was it a quote? Was it funny at the time? Was it a really lame inside-joke that no-one but a few people would get?

erstetrinity Erste means First. And he is the first Trinity sibling and. /sobs. I am so lame.

overpowerful In Bleach canon, he is said to be the most powerful member just with raw ability. And he wants more power when he fights Ichigo, etc. So basically I made up a word.

philogynous It means a love for women, and this is true as Kanako is a blatant lesbian. I think this word is made up as well... or it's a real word and I just took it. 8>

pansbox -- In canon, Kaito is on a never ending quest for a jewel that a) is very small and embedded in a larger jewel (so it's a doublet), b) glows red under the moonlight and c) grants immortality by crying liquid tears that can be consumed when the Volley Comet passes. It's called Pandora, an obvious reference to the Pandora myth in Greek Mythology. When I was thinking of a name for him, I didn't want to be cliche and choose anything related to clovers, Kid, or 1412, so I decided to focus on the legend surrounding his quest (not to mention he references Pandora's Box to Conan in relation to unmasking himself at one point in canon)! pandorasbox and other variations of the full name were taken, so I shortened 'Pandora' to 'Pan' and thus... pansbox was formed! It's actually probably my favorite username I've come up with so far.

magicalminuki -- lol one of my more uncreative names, made back when I didn't put much stock into what my character's screennames were. Her Japanese name is Minuki, and she's a magician. Thus, 'magicalminuki' for the alliteration.

chickhasagun -- Yoko is a chick. She has a gun. Enough said.

yourtrumpcard -- In canon, Rika refers to Keiichi as her 'trump card' to overcoming Takano's devious plot and finally breaking free of her fated summer of 1983. Keiichi is the catalyst for all the events that eventually helped the group defeat Takano and her men. His determination to fight against fate is what finally gave Rika the courage to fight it as well.

fallbymyhand -- When you knock down all your enemies in P3 and have the option to use an All-Out Attack, one of your party members will look at you and ask if you want to. If Mitsuru is the one to ask you, and you choose 'yes,' then her battle cry afterward is "You'll fall by my hand!"

Treize Kushrenada had him "killed" for treason by the people within OZ who hated him, causing his mask to crack and their friendship to be broken. And Milliardo Peacecraft, leader of the White Fang, sacrificed himself to destroy Libra once he decided his path was incorrect. "Wind" is the codename he chose for the Preventers.

mortal_son - Shinjiro Aragaki's Persona is called Castor, the mortal son (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Castor_and_Pollux) of Tyndareus and Leda.

dude_it_glows: There is an infamous Tekken fanfic penned years ago by my good friend Shira called "Tekken Committee (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/837703/1/Tekken_Committee)," and in it, Kazuya Mishima creates a committee that just....does stuff (one chapter is devoted to unmasking Kunimitsu by way of a beauty pageant, for example). In it, Hwoarang is portrayed as a stoner, and absolutely no one can say his name (which is another reason why he's called Bob). The username is from when Hwoarang was staring at Yoshimitsu's sword, and he says, "Dude, it glows."

sandy_requiem: Every Temple in Ocarina of Time has its own Ocarina song that one must play in order to warp to it. The song for the Spirit Temple is the Requiem of Spirit. "Sandy" because the Gerudo live in the Gerudo Desert. \o/

cleaver_bitch: It's my youngest brother's nickname for Rena. When I first showed him Higurashi, when Rena comes to the town junkyard wielding her infamous weapon, Steve yelled, "Holy shit, it's a cleaver bitch!"

Also, another theme of Sandman is a quote from Ovid's Metamorphoses: "Omnia mutantur, nihil interit." ("Everything changes, nothing is truly lost.") Again, it relates to Death's purpose, and I liked the Latin parallelism.

I'd claim I was sucking up to Latte, too, but I didn't know her very well at the time.

Suguru's journal name is a reference to one of his canon nicknames-Last Five Seconds Miracle Fighter. Because he always loses, right until the last 5 seconds, then he wins.

nevergiveitback is a bit more complicated. Kuroro is from a place called Meteor City, which is actually a country sized junkyard. The country is a SCARY place and they look after their own. So when someone from the city was falsely arrested, out of spite, the 32 people who were involved in the case were killed in suicide bombings, leaving notes saying 'we accept everything, so never try to take it back.' As Kuroro is the Quintessence of Theft, and on the other end of the equation being a Meteor City resident, I reversed it.

flame_stigma - Sol has a mark on his head that he keeps hidden with his headband- the mark that brands him as a Gear. It looks like a five-tongued flame. And since it's the mark of a Gear, it's like a stigma- you do not want to be anywhere near something with the mark.

suplexing - One of Leon's trademark moves in RE4 is to suplex his target after shooting it in the kneecaps. 8D It's a ton of fun to do. And almost always a one-shot kill on the mooks.

rebelbloodline - Rock is trying to "rebel against the bloodline" of Geese Howard, allowing for him to try and live his own life outside of what people expect him to do as Geese's son.

ttlynotcable - Natey's name comes from the fact that he's considered the Age of Apocalypse version of Cable. However, he has said on several occasions that he's not Cable, and he never will be. :| He hates being compared to the old fart.

I wanted things like "silverkitsune" or "rosekitsune" or just anything that was a play on roses, silver, foxes or plants in general. But of course every single name was taken. So I finally went to our Heiji and said "Hon, you're good at usernames, HALP." So she gave me deadly_garden. Kurama's a plant user when he fights and the final end theme has him walking in what looks like a greenhouse so... deadly garden it was.

grey_grief Haibara's name is interesting. It's actually an etymology joke in a sense. According to canon (Yes, they did discuss this) they chose Haibara's child name based on a couple of famous female detectives: VI Warshawsky and Cordelia Gray. The kanji for "hai" is gray, and for the "ai" kanji they chose "grief," which is pronounced the same as "love," which was the professor's preferred kanji. Apparently Haibara herself insisted on the "grief" meaning. Grey was chosen over gray due to her being half British (British peeps, wanna correct me on this because I've only ever been taught the "gray" spelling so if I'm wrong let me know). Et voila, grey_grief.

theman_inred Dante has a lot of nicknames, everything from "Jackass" to "SSStylish" to "Lazy bum." When I made his account on a whim, I didn't want to use something involving his mentioning of demonic powers, mainly because well... He's not fond of them, even after using them for over 10 years. So, I sat down, and ran nicknames for him through my head, for ideas. "The man in red" was one I distinctly remember in the anime, and it was the first one that popped into my head. 8> So I went with that.

zanarkandsboy At the time, I hadn't played through the entire game of X, and I didn't want to have such a spoilerish username for those who hadn't played the game. Besides, if he was going to be pre-canon, no point in telling his big secret right away, right?

awaken_vegnagun Honestly, I was scrambling for a name for him. I had never played X-2, I had only seen a few cutscenes with him in it, but I knew for a fact that the angsting bastard was obsessed and hellbent on getting his revenge, and he wanted to get it by "awakening the machina called Vegnagun," and thus- the username took form.

noirnoshirayuki Orz I... have no good explanation for this. XD I had made the account before really reading into the series, and the original name would've been "sodenoshirayuki" for Rukia's zanpakuto. When that was already taken, I tried thinking of names, and then just randomly started searching the Bleach wiki (more importantly, Rukia's page), and I read a little, and then came up with this name. The "noir" stands for her duty and loyalty as a Shinigami, and "no shirayuki" means "of snow" (or "sleeve of snow," I forget), for her zanpakuto, and the mentioning of her being like snow or like the moon. Idk if it was the best choice, lmao, buuuuut if I ever want to change it, I will. XD

keybladedork First idea for a name that came to my mind, really. Sora's a derp, he's lovable, everyone is his best friend ever, and he wields a giant key as a weapon. I mean, come on, how awesome is that?

mnkeywrenchjams I HAD SUCH A HARD TIME THINKING OF A NAME FOR HIM AT FIRST OMG. To me, Yosuke was a jerk, he didn't care about other people, and he was just a dick overall, and made bad jokes and whined too much. But when I began going through the walkthrough, I fell in love with him, and one of the funniest things I noticed about him was that he focused on the battle through blasting his music. He seems to have a major love of it, like me, and also his first weapon was a pair of monkey wrenches. |3

AND EVEN THOUGH SHE'S BEEN DROPPED: crimsnbuttrfly The one catchy thing about Ada that I loved reading about her was that after her first interaction with Leon, she felt like she was reborn again, into a new person. Butterflies symbolize "new life" in Chinese folklore, and the color red means vibrant and lively (not to mention mysterious), and it's a polar opposite to Leon (who's usually coded with blue). Those two are put as the "yin" and "yang" of each other.
