Ichigo would go to his grave before admitting it aloud, but he kind of misses Renji.

Do you foresee it being possible to repair their friendship back to the way it originally was? Or is this one of those things that requires the canon move before there's any significant change?

Honestly? I'm not sure. Right now they're at a point where they can at least be civil to each other, but I don't know if Renji's quite ready to forgive and forget yet. Finding out that Ichigo was in a relationship with an Arrancar was never going to be easy for him to swallow, but the fact that Ichigo kept it a secret for so long and then sprang the news on them quite suddenly didn't help to soften the blow. The huge fight he had with Rukia about it afterward, coupled with Byakuya throwing him out of the Sixth because he didn't tell him about Ichigo and Ggio, just made the whole situation worse, and Renji really resented Ichigo for being the cause of it all for a long time there.

He knows that he probably overreacted, and on some level he does regret that they're not friends anymore, but he's too proud and too stubborn to admit he might have been wrong. And he won't apologise for the things he said about Ggio because he still thinks he's right.

But to answer the question - unless something drastic happens to change Renji's mind, I think this is one of those things that's going to require a canon move before it resolves. That, or time :/
