Oh yes. The children of the Mars Colonization Project were created to save humanity from their problems by colonizing Mars. Lilith took this duty very seriously whereas Cain (secretly), Abel, and Seth resented it. A large part of the reason she is so willingly to forgive humanity for using her and her family was because it is drilled into her very being she is to save humans. The rest of it she is just really that nice a person.

What changed Abel and Seth's opinions of humanity? Was it Lilith's example?

Yes. Lilith was winning the war (Cain/Seth/Abel/Methuselah vs. Lilith/The Vatican/Methuselah who wanted to protect humans) but, that wasn't enough of for her. Even if she won, there would still be hatred on both sides. Lilith decided to martyr herself in the hopes it would wake up Abel and Seth and the gamble paid off. Seeing her dead by Cain's woke them up. They realized they never wanted to kill humans. They were hurt and angry but, it wasn't worth losing Lilith. Obviously we all know what happens after that.
