ONE. list your characters (journal names optional).
TWO. others reply with one of those characters or a pairing for you to write; platonic or romantic is up to you.
THREE. pick five cliché AUs from this list (complete with explanations!), and write something of any length - a sentence, a paragraph, a drabble, or a full-length ficlet, if you'd prefer - for each of those five AUs, involving that character or pairing.

Nanako was considered the Princess of Yasogami High. Not the Queen, but the Princess. She was cute, sweet, intelligent, and had the weird little quirk of being able to list off a trivia fact about anything and everything at any given time.

However, unlike a 'Queen,' she didn't seem to be aware of the attention she drew from most of the boys and a few of the girls. Just like a Princess was unaware to the outside world, she was naive to the whole thing.

And just like princess, she had six (at times seven) terrifying knights to scare away any and all suitors who tried to approach her casually. And any who tried seriously?

Well, the king was quite scary and he was the one who had the gun.

Supernatural

Nanako shivered as she wandered through the fog. "Teddie! Teddie, where are you?!" She called. She couldn't see a thing and she didn't even know where she was. Things had been just FINE before.

It had been peaceful and pretty and a light hearted place. Then all of a sudden, a fog rolled in and cut her off from Teddie. It didn't seem imperative to stay so close as long as he could see her, but the fog made it impossible to find each other. It almost seemed to muffle the very sound.

"Teddie!" She shouted again. That is, until she stumbled onto a pathway. A beautiful pathway of white stone and beautiful plants. "What...what's this place? I didn't see it before," she murmured, walking up to the front doors.

But...it seemed so familiar. A peaceful, quiet place.

And yet, she was almost sure...that is was a lonely and dangerous place.

Western

"You just hafta help her! The sheriff went and got his leg broken tryin' to excuse her and she's just a little thing!" Yukiko pleaded.

And of course the wandering stranger couldn't just ignore such a plea, especially if it was to help a little girl. Souji tipped his hat and with a reassurance he'd return to Nanako, he went to find the no good bandits that done took her.

He didn't quite expect the sight he saw when he found them though.

"You! Clean those pots and pans! They're so dirty, your meals are half mud! I expect them to be spotless when I start dinner! And you! Get those stains out of those clothes. The last batch is ready to be taken down and it'd better to switch them out right away! And Billy, didn't I TELL you that you have to fix those stirrups?! It'll make pulling the cart easier for the ponies!"

It seemed for the last half a day, Nanako was the one holding the bandits captive until they got their camp in tip top living order.

Asylum

"And Kanji is gonna come tomorrow and show me how to make dollies!" Nanako said, living happily at the wall, her hand making a circle in the air. "Hmm, I think this looks right. What do you think daddy? Think this is how big bro made it?"

"Yeah...that's exactly how it's made," Dojima said, giving her a weak smile.

"Great! It should be done, so I'll serve it up!" Nanako said, walking a few steps to the side, and looked like she was grabbing plates to do just that.

Dojima watched her. Of course it was all in her head and not even the usual pretend of a kid her age. He should have seen what having Souji die of appendicitis that first day had done to her. She had tried to cope, but after she got kidnapped...

Well, afterwards, she kept talking about Souji, calling him big bro even though she only knew him a few days and then others in their town being her friends though she never met them and the new mascot from Juness. And something about Shadows and Personas and other worlds.

He tried therapy, but it was so bad, he had no choice, but to put her here. The least he could do was let her pretend and be happy for a little while when he visited.

"Eat up!" Nanako said, setting an imaginary bowl inn front of Dojima as she dug into her own 'food.' "Hmmm, not as good as big bro...think he'd have been happy with this?"

"If you made it, I'm sure he'd be very happy," Dojima said.

Crossover [He had to show up in one of these.]

Issei was a monk. He did rituals that monks did. He did duties that monks performed.

Yet somehow, someway, one of those rituals or duties affected some mage circle and now he was involved in some war and he had a servant and it was a great deal of weird he wasn't prepared for.

Still, he could at least make it a BIT more normal.

"Nanako."

"Who?" The little Servant said questioningly. Issei still wondered why a Servant would be so short, but when he asked, she said it was because he botched up the ceremony.

"Your name. Caster is too weird of a name. Nanako seems like a good name for you," Issei said.

Nanako blinked, before turning red. "I-it's not really needed or anything! You could just say I'm a little girl and they wouldn't pay me any mind!"

"It would be rude to just ignore a little girl, even if she's a heroic spirit."

The blush turned a darker red. "I-if that is my master's wish..."

"I'm sorry."

Issei looked at the young woman in confusion. "For what, Nanako?"

"I read all the old backlogs on the Community and our journals. I read some of the stuff when I was really little and some of what I saw...it must have been traumatizing for everyone," Nanako said, her face red.

"O-oh, that! Don't worry about it. You were just a little girl. You didn't know better," Issei said, feeling a blush form on his own face.

"And...also.." Nanako said, her face turning redder and she fidgetted.

"What is it?"

"...if you ever talk Haruto into a threesome and stop being afraid of the female body, feel free to contact me. I've been in the line for a while now."

By the time Issei fully decipher what Nanako had said, she'd been long gone. Needless to say, that was probably for the best because there was no good way to respond to THAT.

"Welcome to the Ecruteak City Gym, honored challenger~!" A voice echoed through the darkened gym as Ash entered the building. "Please, state your name."

"Uh, I actually already got the badge here years ago. I wanted to talk to Morty. Is he here?" Ash asked.

"Oh...is that all," the voice sad and the lights turned on. "Morty's out of town right now," Dani said from a cross walk near the ceiling. "He'll be back in a week."

"Oh. I guess I'l-DANI?!" Ash said, looking at the girl in surprise.

"Hm? Oh! I thought you sounded familiar. Hi Ash!" Dani said, waving to him.

"What are you doing here?!" Ash asked.

Dani shrugged. "I was trying to visit you last year, but got dropped off here. I met Morty, we hit it off, and apparently I really AM a natural with Ghost Pokemon."

"Join me, Crocker-san! With the power of the witch I have captured, we could rule all those normal worlds. Those worlds where they declared any who truly believe insane," Kazuha declared, atop the throne she had already made in her own world.

"Kazuha, you can't do this," Crocker said. "It's insane! People make mistakes. I see it in the students all the time. They do something younger and when they're older, they stop. It'll go away in time."

"Time? TIME?! What about the time they're taking from me now, Crocker-san?!" Kazuha demanded and pulled on the chain that was holding Koizumi Akako bound and powerless unless Kazuha let her free. "They mocked me, tormented me! Even the man I loved laughed in my face for my beliefs! You're the same, aren't you?! You kept quiet about your belief in fairies because people mocked you!"

"I'm fine just knowing I'm right! They're wrong, Kazuha, but you're hurting people. As a teacher, I can't let you go down this path! Let me help you, Kazuha! You can still undo all of this, let Akako go, and learn the proper way to live!" Crocker declared.

"The proper way to live?" Kazuha said and laughed bitterly. "It's too late for that, Crocker-san. I thought...you might have recognized that by now..."

Nanako+Izanami /shot

Chibified

[identity profile] puddingstolen.livejournal.com 2010-05-06 05:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Izanami could disguise herself to a limited extent. It was a requirement, seeing as her true form would never pass in the real world. Usually she went for an adult form, but this time?

"And down that road is Juness. It's the best place in the world! Though we shouldn't go without someone older," Nanako said, pointing down the road and beaming at 'Sanji,' the new transfer student in her class.

Nanako was just too cute when she was excited to pass up.

Powers

[identity profile] puddingstolen.livejournal.com 2010-05-06 06:01 pm (UTC)(link)
"It was nice meeting you too," Nanako said, shaking the hand of the security guard. "Thanks for letting me talk to Kaito-san."

"It was my pleasure," the woman security guard said, waving as Nanako walked away. "Are you okay?" She asked as she wavered.

"Ah, yeah. Just a bit of vertigo," Nanako said, offering a smile over her shoulder before she continued.

Izanami watched her leave. She has promised not to do anything in that world. However, she still knew what was going on in that world. She didn't like the idea of another god doing something in Inaba. She had already passed judgment there. If they had a test to do, they could do it elsewhere.

But her promise kept her from doing much.

Really though, it didn't count if she did a bit of unlocking for certain powers on OTHER worlds, now did it?

Space

[identity profile] puddingstolen.livejournal.com 2010-05-06 06:12 pm (UTC)(link)
"So how does it feel?"

"It's...a liberating sort of feeling."

"We're even beyond the moon now," Nanako said, looking out the window as they drifted past the stars.

"So we are," Izanami said and chuckled softly. "First I was the lowest of the gods and now I've gone farther than any of them," Izanami said, glancing at the little shrine Nanako has sneaked onboard the spaceship. "Why did you do this, child?"

Nanako shrugged. "It seemed sad," she said. "That you had to be all alone in the basement while everyone was on the roof."

"And you wanted to reunite me with the others?" Izanami asked. "We're a bit too far for that."

"I know. I wasn't sure where the roof was exactly. So I figured if you were the first one to go flying in the sky while they were still on the roof, then they'd come visit you in the basement more," Nanako said, smiling widely.

Post-Apocalypse

[identity profile] puddingstolen.livejournal.com 2010-05-06 06:27 pm (UTC)(link)
There was a rumor that in this world, there was a girl. When the end had started, she was only five. Five years later, they say she still lived. Not that she was being protected. Rumor says at first she was with a large number of people, all capable of fighting.

However, in this world, not only was being able to fight important, but so was avoiding getting bitten.

One by one they left until it was only her and her father, but as it always seems to go, something went wrong.

Rumor says within a year, she was on her own. No protection.

At least none from humans.

"If you stay with me, you will never die, but you will never rest."

Rumor says those are the words she will say. All she would have is one gun, a police standard issue pistol. No great weapon, no great skills. Nothing that says why this particular child could live for so long on her own.

Though there is a bit more to the rumor. Of those who traveled with her. It was true. No one who was with her ever died, but it seemed she attracted those undead beasts.

When her bullets ran out, when it seemed all was lost, she knelt on the ground, closed her eyes, and clasped her hands together.

Rumors says she only says two things. A name and a plead. And with that, those who traveled with her swear that that they see something strange. Skeleton arms, all the color of blood seem to appear and strike down every single beast.

Not only that, but it seems to pull the very darkness, the very disease out of them, leaving the diseased flesh left behind looking nothing more than a normal human corpse.

Rumor says that many have asked her what that was.

"She's mad. If you're dead, you stay below. You decay below. You only move below. She hates that they can walk here freely while she can't. So I'm her mediator."

When they ask what that means, she never explains. Eventually people leave her, unable to take the dead she just draws in like a magnet.

The only other clue is what her plea is. She always asks the same thing, or so rumor says.

"Please, Izanami-sama."

"I wanna go home," Nanako murmured, curled up in a corner. "It's too lonely here."

"I'm afraid you can't. You're trapped here. Everyone is trapped."

"You're a goddess. Can't you let us out?"

"I'm afraid I can't do that. You see, I'm trapped here with you."

"How can you be trapped?"

"Because, Nanako," Izanami said, putting a hand on the child's head. "In your heart, you want to go to Heaven. And Heaven is a place where I hold no power."

Nanako looked up. "But...but this isn't really Heaven!"

Izanami gestured around the serene setting. "You know what you see before you is not the real Heaven," she said and touched her forehead. "In here, but here," she pointed to her heart. "You do not. And that is enough that until you let go of the reason you wish to go to Heaven to make this place real enough."

"But...I want to go home..." Nanako said softly.

Izanami smiled gently, almost sadly, and pulled the girl into a gentle embrace. "As do I, child. As do I."
