Everyone knew Caterina and Tres were easily the most popular people in the school; they were talented, smart, beautiful, and perfect in every way. What they didn’t know was the manly Tres was once a tiny boy in the shadow of an abusive older brother or that Caterina was a lonely orphan seeking approval from an estranged father. They only saw the end result of two lost children banding together.

Tres was not programmed with comprehension of human emotions and how to deal with them save for how to use them to his advantage. This only added to the mystery as to why when his Duchess broke down in tears at the sight of her dead brother, he pulled her close to him and let her sob on his shoulder all night.

To a devoted knight like Tres Iqus, it was unacceptable for his princess to be locked away in a tower awaiting rescue from a prince so she may become queen. Thus came a logical solution to the problem; kill everyone who tried to remove her from his care and place her as queen. Much to no one’s surprise, Caterina began her reign within the week of the decree to imprison her and Sir Tres’ decision to kill anyone who attempted to enforce it.

Humans had moments of weakness and Caterina was no exception. During a particular low point in her life, after a night of indulging in wine, Caterina took Tres to bed. She apologized over and over again the following day between trips to the bathroom only to be greeted with ‘Negative’ each time. He was her property to do with as she pleased. Much too both their surprise, the trips to the bathroom did not stop for months. Between morning sickness in the first few months and a child pressing down on her bladder after, she practically lived there. The Duchess and Hound never did figure out how it happened, but nine months later it became irrelevant. All that mattered was the stormy eyed little girl they shared together.

Caterina Sforza was the daughter of a powerful noble. As such, she deserved the best bodyguard money could buy. Enter the ideal solider, Tres Iqus. He followed her everywhere she went. He did any task she requested of him no matter how big or small it was. At first it seemed natural he would do this for her. As time passed, she started to appreciate what she had. Caterina drew comfort from knowing she was never alone. Of all the men she knew, he was the only one was faithful and true. If she turned around, he would be there. If she fell, he would surely catch her.
Bearing all this in mind, it made perfect sense that one day she would turn around and promote him to her the position of consort.
