Kanna/Ragna, or, if you want a challenge, Sherry and Leon?
1. "Mood Rings" - Relient K
Sometimes Ragna thought that Kanna needed to come with a warning sign. Or maybe something to tell you exactly what mood she was in today. Hell if he could distinguish between them without risking getting chewed out.
Take patting her on the head, for one thing. Half the time when he did it without really thinking, she would throw a tantrum and scream at him for a whole minute or until his eardrums were shattered, whichever came last. Other times she would go as red as a beet and withdraw from the conversation completely for a while.
Not worth it.
2. "She's So High" - Tal Bachman
It wasn't as if she was technically any better than he was. Winged beings were made of the same things as everyone else, and while they did have a different status in the world, it was hardly what you would call high-class. He'd never seen these powers they were rumored to have.
It was just how pure she was. She was innocent. She was loving. She liked everyone, even a rough guy like him.
What was he supposed to do with a girl like that? He'd only get her killed if they got too close. Better to stay in their separate worlds.
3. "One More" - Superchick
"How do you do it, Ragna-san?" Kanna asked over the community, writing quickly in her book. "How do you keep going without being overwhelmed by everything when you're a fugitive? Figuring out how to have a future when there are people searching to kill you?"
"You don't, basically," Ragna answered.
She blinked. "Then what? Give up?"
"Not that either. You just take it one step at a time," he explained. "Don't worry about your future, just try and make it through the day. Always works for me."
"Thank you very much," she replied with a smile. "I can do that."
4. "100,000 Fireflies" - The Magnetic Fields
"Ragna-san..." Kanna complained for the umpteenth time. "Why must you keep pushing me away?"
Ragna grumbled. "You'll just get in the way. Besides, I don't need you. You'd do better if you left me alone."
"But I'm worried about you," she answered, narrowing her eyes. "I can't make you happy by being your friend?"
He shook his head.
"I see..." She considered this for a moment. "Well, you wouldn't be happy even if I left you alone, so I've done no harm. And trying will make me feel better, at least."
Ragna sighed. "You don't give up easily, do you?"
5. "Hero" - Darren Hayes
It bothered him that Kanna idolized him. He wasn't meant to be looked up to. He killed people, a lot of people. His goal was just revenge, nothing noble.
Kanna was sheltered. She knew very little of the outside world and had never had to make a decision. It wasn't surprising that she looked for people to trust and believe in that she could ask for advice when times got tough. Her bodyguards were the same way, probably.
But Ragna wasn't meant for being someone's idol. The only person who could really make her decisions was herself. No one else.
