you know, to undeniably believe that there's someone out there for you takes a lot of courage. michel was lucky in that the person who loved him had always been there. even as she hid behind the guise of childhood friends, wanting to maintain a platonic relationship, he had always known she loved him more than that. but issei wasn't as lucky. he had no one that could or would love him in the way he desired. a relationship just based on sex? while michel was never one to judge others, there was often times when he couldn't sit back. issei wasn't cut-out for a no strings attached arrangement. physical gratification was no substitute for a caring relationship and no one knew that better than michel. but there was nothing he could offer issei that could instantly cure his loneliness and if all issei wanted was a quick-fix then he was in more need of a friend.
"hey issei," it's a casual greeting.
"yes?" followed by a casual response
"how about i take you out, just you and me. like on a date?"
"w-what... what's with you all of a sudden? don't you have a girlfriend?"
"i don't hear a no in that sentence. come on, it's my treat."
and as much as michel wanted to impart his own knowledge and advice, michel was certain that issei had more than enough people to love and worry over him just the way that he was.

as an unreasonably kind person, john never had an inkling of desire to complain. he never thought there was a good reason to. but that didn't mean he never grieved, our doubted his faith. it didn't mean that there were never times he would question himself when he was alone. was he a good enough priest despite the way he looked? could he be taken seriously as an exorcist despite his foreign background? john was young but he wasn't inexperienced, and it hurt him more than he let on for people to discredit him for that.
but as a unreasonably kind person, he could see himself in other people's perspectives. he understood why people reacted the way they did. complaining wouldn't change their minds and it would only make his heart heavier. there was a lot about him that he liked and there was even more he liked about the people surrounding him. whatever insults he could think about would be easily outweighed by the praise he held for others. so as he watched ayako and bou-san bicker, mai and masako bicker as well as naru being his usual withdrawn self; all john could do was smile. how could he possibly point out the bad points in his life when their liveliness cheered him up so quickly?

ever since jessica had died, michel filled the void she left with the company of other women. in retrospect, it was a little disgusting of him to seek out an older woman, only to slowly chip away his abilities to love someone. but a lot could happen in a span of a few months. while romantically, the void had been filled by klan's affections, michel still needed someone older to care for him and to be a caring influence on him. in michel's life, there weren't a lot of women that he could say he was just friends with which is why his relationship with kasumi had been refreshing. she was kind, motherly, selfless and everything he idealized jessica to be. so when he opened the fridge to be greeted by a box of dumplings with instructions on how to heat them, he couldn't help but smile.
