Experience with friendship was something of unfamiliar territory for Lydia. Though she and Sasayan certainly spoke often enough and were planning to hang out at times beyond community events, she was trying to consider what normal friends would do. Considering her history of friendship included an old woman who eloped with a kelpie to the fairy kingdom and a violinist she'd fallen in love with who loved another woman and left shortly after, she really had no idea how to go about this.

That was when she'd decided on the simplest solution: She would simply call him overt the community in the morning to say hello. It was only natural to want to say hello to your friends in the morning and wish them a good day, wasn't it? If she'd had friends back home, she probably would have greeted them when she went out to buy supplies or work in her garden. Sasayan was in another world, so that was out of the question but a call would do.

Working up the courage to convince herself that it wasn't strange was another thing entirely, particularly since Nico was insistent that she barely had more idea how to interact within normal human social boundaries in her own time than in another time. Yet another objection because he was male and Nico was worried Edgar would find out and start forcing Lydia to call him every morning as well. (He already showed up unannounced if he wanted to take her somewhere.) It took Lydia nearly a month after having the idea to finally decide that the worst that could happen was Sasayan would tell her not to call so early because he liked to sleep in.

"Lydia?"

Sasayan was a morning person as well, though, so her call hadn't woken him up. He didn't sound tired at least, just curious. It wasn't like Lydia normally called him at 6am.

"Good morning, Sasayan! Have a good day today."

"Huh? You too."

He still sounded rather confused, especially when Lydia hung up after that. She turned to Nico, most pleased with herself and puffing out her chest with pride.

"See! I told you it'd be fine."

Meanwhile, Sasayan still was holding the phone looking perplexed, but he had to get ready for school. He could save questioning Lydia's behavior for later.
