and we start playing therapist now

If your characters have parents, how do they feel about them? Do they have a good relationship? Or are they the source of much angst and other lovely things? Or are they robots/clones/machines/whatever and don't have parents?

Issei has a fairly good relationship with his father! His dad is the head of the temple, and has kind of a weird personality. (He's best friends with the head of the local yakuza, which says a lot for a monk.) His father is fairly strict and enforces more rules than their branch of Buddhism actually has, but he does it to build character, and Issei understands. He'll joke about it, but Issei loves his father deeply.

His mother doesn't live at the temple and is never mentioned, and I've decided that she was divorced from Issei's father when Issei was extremely young, so there's really no relationship there at all. He hardly ever thinks about her.

[identity profile] last5secondswin.livejournal.com 2010-01-03 12:24 pm (UTC)(link)
And people say Issei is the normal one around here...From what I know of the adults around him, when he hits his mid twenties he's going to suddenly become quirky.

Tamaki loev his mommy and daddy ;3; His mom is back in France; he agreed to cut all contact and move to Japan to be his grandmother's heir in exchange for his mother being able to live comfortably and healthily (she was very sickly).

Itsuki's parents were both borderline workaholics, so he was left to his own devices a lot; when they were home, though, he did get along with them well, and had a generally happy childhood. He kind of focuses on the teenage angst WELL THEY WERE NEVER HOME ANYWAY to help himself ignore the fact that he does miss them.

Sheryl's parents died when she was too young to remember them; all she has is a pair of keepsake earrings from her mother.

Nena is a test tube baby :'D

Rise's parents were very strict; although they loved her in their own way, she wasn't allowed to play roughly or watch much television, and as they were very staid, upright people, she can't really remember having any happy-fun-laughing family bonding time. They disapproved heavily of her decision to become an idol; it was her first big disobeyance of them that she went ahead with it anyway. They were pretty WHAT HAS OUR DAUGHTER BECOME at first, even though they signed the release forms; by now Rise and her parents are in a state of "we won't really see eye to eye about this ever but we're still family", and she communicates with them infrequently by e-mail.

Mileina is a daddy's girl and a mama's girl and basically just loves her parents. They've taught her most of what she knows, as opposed to a teacher in a classroom, and she works alongside them as much as she can out of her own volition-- you'd think she'd get tired of them, being around them that much, but she really adores them.
maraich: (Heh heh?)

Maraich was an orphan, but he doesn't mind. There's no large amounts of angst there.

Hoo boy. :|

Sol's parents are long dead, so he's a moot point.

Leon gets along well with his parents- calls them when he can, though it's not as often as he would like to. :< Though he pulls what my sister does- when he's on a long trip, he dumps off Sam on them so he knows the bloodhound's in good hands.

Firion's parents died when he was a baby, he was raised by Maria and Leon's parents until the Empire raided his hometown and killed them- he considered them to be like his real parents, though.

Nate has met his reality's version of Scott and Jean briefly during their last stand against Apocalypse- and he and Jean shared a psionic connection. However, they really didn't get much time to bond considering the situation. Nate does wonder what it would've been like to have parents like a normal kid sometimes, though.

Rock hates his father with everything he has- it's a major part of his personality in trying to get away from Geese. He only knew him for a short time, but because he was so unsympathetic to his mother's situation, he did not like Geese from the first time he met him. His mother, on the other hand, was a kind woman, someone he could talk with. Even though it's been ten years, he still sometimes misses her.

Jin, surprisingly, is a lot like Rock- but with an interesting subversion: Jin actually ended up becoming almost exactly like Kazuya by the time of T6, and if his mother were around to talk with him, I'm sure that he'd be ashamed of everything he had done to the world as a whole.

[identity profile] dude-it-glows.livejournal.com 2010-01-03 03:19 pm (UTC)(link)
I always thought that was one of the funniest things about Jin: his entire life was about eradicating the Mishima name and NOT wanting to turn into his father, and then his Tekken 5 ending...LOL HI I'M THE NEW KAZUYA.

And you know if Jun returned he'd run and cry into her lap. "I'm so sorry Mommy!"

Ggio as he currently is doesn't have any literal parents. He only feels immense grief and guilt over the death of his human mother but it's not something he explicitly remembers, and it hasn't manifested presently in any way save for how he drinks up attention from older women such as Kasumi and Giselle (and Maraich, to an extent, he gets a bit of a 'mommy' vibe from him). Aizen and Tatsumi are currently the closest things he has to a father. While Ggio is scared to death of Aizen, he also craves approval and acceptance from him like burning; Tatsumi, on the other hand, is both stern and caring with Ggio, which confuses the arrancar greatly but he doesn't know what a daddy is really supposed to be like.

At any rate, Ggio is confused but protective over Kasumi, Giselle and Tatsumi, and has a desperate urge to please Aizen so he can stay alive, to sum up how he feels about his 'parents'. :|a

Mashiro has a bit of a mommy complex herself, though it's just a bit of headcanon I can't fleshed out much. I just have some idea that she grew up in Rukongai/Seireitei and her mother was probably killed by Hollows when she was young, and it translates a bit as to why she'd love to be a mother now but can't. She loved her mommy and regrets not being able to have much time with her, though it was not her fault.

Mukuro ahahaha, well. He was apparently born or sold to a mafia family that experimented on their own children and caused the deaths of most of them. His parents are never mentioned but it's safe to safe he either literally does not care for them or hates them with all of his being that isn't devoted to creeper fufufuness.

[identity profile] heavenly-home.livejournal.com 2010-01-03 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
;_; Kasumi loves her son bb-san.

[identity profile] originaldragoon.livejournal.com 2010-01-03 05:05 am (UTC)(link)
Lets see....

Rose
This is head canon so... Her mother died giving birth to her so her father raised her. She was a daddy's girl, big time, and she admired him so much that she wanted to be a strong warrior like he was.

Sari
A major daddy's girl. Doesn't have a mother since, lol, she's Cybertronian.

Hector
Based on the manga, he has some parent issues. His mother used to slap him around, called him a cursed child, and say she wished she had never given birth to him. His father, who was an Alchemist, was a total workaholic. The man was so into his work, that he completely forgot that he had a son.

and for my new muse,

Priss
Was on her own at a young age. She might have had a decent relationship her parents when she was little, but she probably rebelled when she became a teenager and ran away.

[identity profile] aburningspirit.livejournal.com 2010-01-03 05:14 am (UTC)(link)
DID YOU APP PRISS FROM BUBBLEGUM CRISIS

[identity profile] pink-sugargirl.livejournal.com 2010-01-03 05:22 am (UTC)(link)
Giselle
She never knew her parents and was raised in the forest by her animal friends. She's never really had a desire to seek out her mother or father as she was perfectly content where she was. She's certain they were wonderful people though, and bad circumstances must have been what took her away from them.

Chibiusa
Complicated city here. Her actual parents? She loves and adores. She practically worships the ground her mother walks on and wishes to be like her in every way, a real lady. As for her father she loved him to the point of a father complex for quite a while. When she first became Black Lady she took Mamoru (her future father) for herself. Nothing nasty occurred, I assure you. When Chibiusa first arrived in canon her feelings were mixed because she had scared herself into thinking they didn't really love her because she couldn't live up to their expectations and they were always so busy with the kingdom. Now their relationship is much better.

As for Usagi and Mamoru, the past selves or her mother and father, she gets along very well with Mamoru, but is often arguing with Usagi. She finds it very hard to believe that the crybaby, goof off can really by her elegant mother, but she still does love Usagi very much. She's proud to be her daughter/cousin/friend because of how strong she is when it comes to the important things.

Hikaru
Funny story. Until recently I thought Hikaru's parents were dead in canon, but apparently they just never get any screen/page time. I imagine she gets along with them well, as she does with everyone else.

Vanessa
I think we all know how Vanessa feels about her father. She doesn't really hate him, but she gets frustrated with all of his evil schemes and his general lameness. He is always trying to win her approval, but only through his own methods, which always involve babying her, as if she were still only four. She wants him to trust her more as a young adult and to get over his weird, evil ways. What frustrates her the most is that she can't prove how evil he is to her mom. She gets along fairly well with her mother though. Now divorced from Vanessa's father, she's pretty mellow and let's Vanessa do her own thing. She thinks Vanessa is a bit high strung with the whole 'dad is evil' thing, but she doesn't worry too much.

[identity profile] aburningspirit.livejournal.com 2010-01-03 05:39 am (UTC)(link)
Minako: It's canon that she's not exactly on the best of terms with her family. One of her dislikes is her mother; she constantly puts down her father for being a salaryman, complains about being stuck in the house with them and being a homemaker because she's wasting her life. It's my headcanon that her mom and dad fight a lot over money issues. As a result, Minako keeps away from them as much as possible. It's better if she stays out of their line of sight so her mom doesn't start yelling at her about grades and such (which is also canon iirc). It's probably a reason why she values love so much. She's seen what happens when you don't love someone and try to make a bond with them. It doesn't work. :\

Kamina: His father is his idol. He left when he was very young, maybe about 6 or 7, and he was the one who took him to the surface for the very first time. He proved to him that there was a world better than the one underground. Kamina goes up to the surface with the initial purpose of finding him so it's really crushing when he discovers that his dad got killed by beastmen. There's even a song on the OST titled "An Elegy for Kamina's Father Who Turned to Bones". It says a lot about that relationship. Kamina's mom is never mentioned. Like at all. Headcanon says that she died soon after Papa Kamina left of some kind of sickness. He doesn't remember a lot, but he does miss her sometimes.

Asakura: She has no biological parents. She is an alien. :'D Her adopted papa Akabane, she is beginning to adore. He's a little on the crazy side, indulges her psychopathic tendencies, and treats her and Rena to ice cream. Score.

Yukari: Her dad died when she was 6, almost 7 in an explosion that unleashed Shadows on the world and killed lots of people. People shunned them because he was a part of it. But she doesn't hate him. In fact, he was the better parent. He spoiled her rotten and everything and he treated her like she was an equal. She liked that. Her mom, on the other hand.... Well, after his death, she kind of started messing around with every guy in sight. They jumped from house to house with each new boyfriend and she emotionally left Yukari alone to deal with her grief. Their relationship is....ah. Not good. At the beginning of her S. Link, they barely talk. If you go through with it, everything gets patched up, but I play from a not quite finished one. It's still rather strained even if things are a lot better than what they were.

Kanji: ......his dad is dead too. How he died is unspecified, but Kanji still carries a fear of hospitals because of it. The last thing he ever told him was to be a real man and put 100% into everything. It's how Kanji goes through his life. He lives for his dad's approval. Kind of like Yukari. Oh, Atlus, you and your rotating themes. He loves his Ma dearly, but he'll never say it. He beat the shit out of leathered-up pansies AKA biker gangs all on his own because the noise they made kept his mother up at night. In middle school. I mean, that's devotion. But when they're alone and in-person he calls her things like "old cow". It's his mandere-ness sneaking through.

tl;dr: I play characters with parent problems. 8D

[identity profile] hot4kashiwagi.livejournal.com 2010-01-03 05:50 am (UTC)(link)
ahaha. i never got to TL;DR this.

Franziska
She views her father with both respect and casualty. Franziska has lived her whole life following her father's prodigious and legendary career, and grew up with that as a father. She became a prodigy in order to make her father proud that she was living up to the family name. But overall, she doesn't view her father as a person, she sees him as a von Karma. There's no actual familial care for him as she was extremely callous about his death. But she broke down when she couldn't maintain a perfect von Karma win record.

Johann
Test tube baby. >>;

Kenpachi
He has no parents. Grew up on da streets and beat up punks cuz he could, dawg.

Kanako
I think her mother died and not her father, because she constantly prays to her mother up in heaven~ But either way, she's following her parents footsteps with love. Her mother was a student and her father was a teacher and they were both in the same school where they fell in love. Kanako is a sap and she enrolled into a school just so she could find the perfect girl for her.

Kashiwagi
She has a stripper life story, I reckon. HER DAD WAS ABSENT AND HER MOM WAS ALSO A WHORE. So, lol. IDK.

Dumbledore loved his parents very much, but hooooo boy were they a source of some angst. His dad went to prison when he was ten for attacking/possibly killing a bunch of teenage boys who'd brutalized Dumbledore's sister, and he died while serving his time. His mom died when he was eighteen when his half-crazy sister accidentally let out a burst of magic that struck their mother, leaving Dumbledore in charge of his family.

It's never stated if Italy had any parents in canon (though I think there's some fanon theory that the Byzantine Empire's his dad?). And since nations' families don't work like normal ones, he may not have had them. But he definitely had Grandpa Rome, whom he adored. If you ask him, easily his most happy and content years were during the time he spent traveling with his grandfather (which also coincides with the Renaissance).

V doesn't remember anything earlier than his test subject days, so...yeah.

[personal profile] pandorabox 2010-01-03 06:46 am (UTC)(link)
Kaito has a very loving relationship with his parents. His dad was his role model before he died, but his death was also a source of ~*family angst*~ that still plagues Kaito today. He also adores his mother like crazy, and they get along fantastically as she's totally accepting of who he is and all that. He's also super protective of her (HE SEES YOU MOVING IN, SHINRA >|).

Keiichi also gets along swimmingly with his parents! Just like any normal teenage boy would.

Yoko... uuuuuuuh didn't really have any parents in the series >: Dayakka and Leeron were like mentors to her, though, and she is very fond of them both XD

Mitsuru's family situation is... complicated. She loves and respects her father, but she feels restrained by him and they aren't super close. She also feels like she has to be proper around him, and therefore she acts less like a daughter and more like a coworker with him. Her mother is never mentioned, I don't think, and if she is I totally forgot what happened to her XD

TRUCY LOVES HER PAPA *A* Phoenix is the most important person to her and she trusts him with her life man. She also loves her blood father, and never really seemed to begrudge him despite the fact he was a giant ass to her. She also remembers her mother fondly, even though a) she doesn't realize she's alive and b) she doesn't remember much of her. Trucy is just a very loving person, I reckon XD

Daisuke is on very good terms with his parents, even though his mom locks him in the basement with alligators and his father left them for 12 years. YEAH. He doesn't understand it all the time, but he knows they're only doing the best for him.

Dark has no parents, but Daisuke's mother Emiko has adopted him, in a way. Her goal was to be the #1 Phantom Thief mother, for which Dark is very grateful. Ask him who the most incredible and beautiful woman out there is, and he'll say Emiko. He can't say much for Daisuke's dad, as he's not a Niwa and has seen him less than Daisuke has.

Artemis loves his parents so deeply that he kidnapped a fairy and ruined the Russian mafia for them. 8| He'd do anything for his mother, literally. He was raised to be like his father, for which he's proud, but now that his father is determined to keep the family completely legit, Artemis isn't sure if he can please him anymore.

Lazard's parents are a slum woman and President ShinRa - he loved his mother deeply and resented the President for tossing her away like all his other women, and joined the company to get revenge. Sooo, it's not too happy there.

Joker: ... :)

Emoticon: His family relationships stem solely from his grandfather, who was basically the biggest dick ever. Canonly, there's nothing to be known about his mother and father, but for DDD, they divorced and he's been living alone since he turned 18. Emo has huge hangups about family because of all the drama his has been through and mostly thinks that they're not really that big a deal. Who cares, man >:(

HAL: Even though he's a computer, he still treats his programmers (especially Dr. Chandra) as his family. He has no real hangups about it, though, he just... is fond of them.

Ryan: Ryan lives in a Disney world. He loves his family and his family loves him :( (They'd even support him if they knew about his being gay, but since he's still like... a lie to himself, that's beyond the point.)

Harry: ...He had a pretty good relationship with his parents, if a little distanced, but after his brother's death and his continued obsession with ghosts and goblins, they kind of drifted apart.

Sulu: He loves his parents! He really does! He just... cannot stand being around them for any long period of time. Like, seeing them once or twice a year is still kind of a stresser.

[identity profile] vmarsissmarter.livejournal.com 2010-01-03 07:09 am (UTC)(link)
Sylar has a very... complicated situation with his parents. As far as he knows, the parents he was raised by were his adoptive parents. His dad walked out when he was young, so he has this... daddy's approval-shaped hole in his life that he's always trying to fill. And his mom always tried to push him to be ~more~ and was generally overbearing. Overbearing in a really bad way that kind of fucked him up. He has a lot of hatred and resentment towards her because of that, but he does seem to have a weird... Norman Bates-ish sort of attachment to her.

At the moment he thinks the Petrellis are his real parents, and while he's fairly distrustful of them (especially Angela), he likes them because they fulfill his dreams of being ~meant for more~ and Arthur is a new daddy he can suck up to.

Veronica, on the other hand, has a strong relationship with her father. They care deeply about each other, and she views him as her rolemodel in many ways. Her mother, on the other hand, she views as a deadbeat and resents first for leaving her and her father, and then later when she lies about quitting drinking and finishing rehab.

Uhura... idk. Has normal parents? She loves them but doesn't like being around them for long periods of time. Like Sulu, lmfao.

Devit's (or Jasdevi's) life before Noah-hood is unknown, and I don't actually have any headcanon for it, mostly because the manga is still ongoing, and I'm holding out hope for more info. :'D I wouldn't be surprised if he harbors some resentment or hatred for them. :|a

Phoenix is actually on pretty good terms with his parents, especially his mom. He and his dad are at odds sometimes, but it's nothing particularly traumatizing.

Simon's parents both died in a cave in when he was 7, right in front of him, and he wasn't able to do anything about it. He cared about them a lot, and still does to this day. When they died, it changed a lot in him, turning him into somewhat of a coward, and pushing him on a path to being a doormat. His foster father was the Chief of the village, who, headcanon (backed up with evidence from the show) says abused him. And it wasn't just physical, it was largely verbal/emotional. He misses his parents, and they're part of what drove him to really start fighting the beastmen. Knowing they were what killed his mother and father gave him just enough rage to use Lagann that first time, and I think it was a factor all the way to the end.

Fuu loves her parents. There's no real canon about them, so this is all made up. Her mother spends a lot of time overseas, and her father is a business man, so she doesn't see them often, but she knows they would do anything for her, and she'd do anything in return. She pushes herself so hard to get good grades for them, and almost them alone. She's managed, thus far to not disappoint them, and is greatly fearing the day she does.

Aigis is a robot.

LOLOLOL OKAY this'll be fun. Um.

Wesker... oh Capcom fucked up his history a whole lot in RE5. What I can gather from it is that Spencer kidnapped him from his parents or something so that he could be used in the Wesker experiment and all that shit. I imagine this took place at a very young age, so. Probably wouldn't have known his parents well, erm... :| fuck you Capcom.

Adachi... aaaaaaaah. Fuck you Atlus or whatever, he has no history. I think he resents them because they made him work his ass off at school. Don't think he's very fond of either of them and definitely doesn't stay in contact. He wouldn't be much interested if they were to visit him in jail.

Aizen. ...Has no relationsip with anyone or anything. Shush.

Excalibur. Um. Er. No.

Apollo... SPOILERS well he doesn't know either of them he thought he was an orphan BUT ACTUALLY his mum's Lamiroir and his dad was some random dude and he just has no relationsip with them because he never knew them.

*Does the short one first.*

Kuroro's past hasn't been explained AT ALL aside from a single page in canon, but he does know his date of birth. So I guess he wasn't one of the babies dumped into Meteor City (which is a giant junk yard), and was probably born there. But in my head-canon his mother died in the process and he never met his father.

Suguru on the other hand, has serious issues stemming from his parents-his relationship with the King and Queen pretty much sums up his entire relationship with the world.
They tossed him away, and even though it was an accident they never found him when he needed them. He spent his entire childhood thinking that he didn't have any parents at all, that he'd just come out of nowhere-and thus, he had no place in the world. When they finally did find him, at the age of twenty, it was to ask him to save their planet. And when he failed, they basically told him that he wasn't worthy to be their child and sent him back to Earth. AND ADOPTED ANOTHER FULL GROWN MAN TO REPLACE HIM.
Basically, Suguru has every reason to hate them, and it sickens him that he doesn't. He wants their approval, he wants them to love him and take care of him. It's their fault that rather than living in the lap of luxury as a Prince he's spent his entire life on the bottom of the ladder, but he just wants to feel like he's someone's child so he can feel that there's a place for him.

Ban: Doesn't speak to either of his parents, and doesn't even know if his mother's alive anymore. His father ditched him not long after he was born, and his mother disowned him when he was still a kid, screaming that he was a demon child and a monster. He was raised mostly by his paternal grandmother the Witch Queen and Maria Noches until he was about twelve, which is when he left Germany to stay one step ahead of the Shamans once his grandmother died. He's only seen his dad once again - during a fight at the end of the GetBackers manga Der Kaiser shows up, Ban has a showdown with him, and barely restrains himself from killing his dad outright while showing that he kicks more ass (he uses his inner strength rather than Asclepius to make a final strike, and thus reveals the Angel Wing).

And then Der Kasier asks for a light for his cigarette and walks back out of Ban's life again. I'm toying with the idea of him somehow finding out about Rider and the baby, though. o3o

Hwoarang: Looks up to Baek Doo San as a father. Tekken canon tells you ONLY about the Mishima family, so all of Hwoarang's is headcanon: he was born and raised in P'yongyang, North Korea, to a military family, and snuck across the border to South Korea when he was thirteen. He has an older sister, and he tries to talk to his sister and mother on occasion, but his father's disowned him completely. That would explain his immense dislike for the military - he was drafted into the South Korean army after Tekken 3 and despised it, despite being part of the Special Ops and one of the best soldiers there. Also, his real name - which I have borrowed (with permission!) from a friend of mine - is Park Jae-chun. Don't bother asking though 'cause he'll never tell.

Nabooru: Mother was a Gerudo warrior, knows nothing about her father, and as is with most Gerudo, she had a very close relationship with her mother. She was an only child, but had a few very close friends who stayed with her even when she took the throne - save for one.

Rena: Her real parents divorced, she disowned her mother, and she is an only child. She loves her father dearly, but knows he's weak around women - as evidenced with Rina - and she doesn't want to see him hurt anymore, which is why she has such a daddy's girl complex and doesn't want him to remarry. Thus when she stays at Akabane's, she tells her dad that she's staying with Rika and Satoko - they go along with the story, and he doesn't question it since he knows about the gaming club.

She absolutely adores Akabane, to the point that she has a semi-crush on him, but doesn't say anything about it. Her daddy's girl complex has transferred over to him in the sense that she wants to protect him. Rena also loves having a pseudo!sister in Asakura, as it seems they're both more similar than they thought.

Saber: SEE: ARTHURIAN LEGEND. Her true name is Arthuria Pendragon, and she was given to Sir Ector to raise as a surrogate son when the King realized his people wouldn't accept a Queen to rule them. King Uther dies, the Saxons try to invade, Merlin explains th legend of the sword in the stone, Arthuria draws Caliburn, and HAI SABER. tl;dr, she never knew her real parents, and regarded both Ector and Merlin as adoptive parents.

Vincent: Nothing is known about his mother. His father looks like a descendant of Dracula, is almost named for a piece of furniture, and was killed in Lucrecia's presence. Apparently, Lucrecia also had the hots for him, too. AUGH.

Crocker

I'll make this short as possible. He's middle aged and still lives with his mother. Consider a mama's boy because of that.
Ms.Crocker tends to treat him rather oddly. Like putting him in red rubber dresses so, she can hem them.
She also, treats her son, like he's a child, like placing him in a high chair, and not givig him privacy and a bedtime. Rather then treating him like an adult because she was never there when Denzel was a child, due to the fact she was always working.
So, Ms.Crocker hired Vic, the babysitter. Vic, just being a male form of Vicky.
She also, thinks her own son is crazy due to his fairy obsession and is sad he turned out like her brother, Uncle Albert.
Needless, to say, her and Denzel don't get along that much.

Papa is pressumed dead, since he is never seen or implied when Crocker was shown with Cosmo and Wanda when he was ten. :|
That and Denzel is accepting of his new step papa, in season 3, right off the bat. So, he had a papa just not very long.

Ash
He just loves, loves his mom. Even if he wanted to go on his own and be a Pokemon master. He still thought of her everytime he changed his underwear and called her from time to time.
He also defiantly missed her cooking and helping his mom around the house.

Debate whether or not Ash's mom dated Giovanni, and that is in fact Giovanni's son.

The other two, nothing is known about their parents.

Akabane
He respected his parents when he was a kid, maybe even loved them a bit, but now he doesn't think about them at all.

Rider
It's not even completely sure who her parents WERE. Then again, it's not like she really cares, and she doesn't think about them all that often.

Yuffie
Mother is probably dead, but I can imagine that she had some sort of love for her anyway. Her father is another matter. At some point she respected him greatly, but then came the disappointment and bitterness when Godo turned the once proud village of Wutai into a tourist town because he didn't stand up against Shinra. These feelings remained for a while until she had to face him in battle. Now she has a bit more respect for him, but not complete respect.

Mion
She loves her parents, although she's closer to her mom than she is to her dad. Her mother also serves as a sort of mentor for her when her grandmother isn't the one teaching her to become the next head of the Sonozaki family.

Shion
She also loves her parents, but doesn't have as much respect for them as Mion (depending on the arc, anyway). They probably had something to do with her surviving past her birth, as her grandmother would have strangled her before her first bath, but they didn't stop the old woman from sending Shion away to the private school or from being tortured. So yeah; while she cares for them, she's fine with living without them.

Inuyasha
Oooh boy, where to begin. Well, he never knew his father, as the old man died on the night of Inuyasha's birth. Still, he keeps hearing how great his father was, so he at least has some amount of respect for him. He was also the one to leave Inuyasha with the Tetsusaiga, so he can't really hate him either.
Inuyasha was kind of a mommy's boy back in the day, and still loves and misses her even now. His mother was the only one who was kind to him when he was a child, and they loved each other very much. However, she also died when he was young for unknown reasons, and so he was left alone and with a large hole in his heart. He's still uncomfortable with talking about her to others, but he does occasionally go to leave flowers on her grave.
