I can't remember if I asked that before...it's been a long time anyway

WHAT MAKES YOUR CHAR TEAR UP/CRY/HAVE A BREAKDOWN?

His friends getting killed, her papa tried to kill them, Paris Hilton....? Inquisitive minds want to know~

[identity profile] stripping.livejournal.com 2010-01-21 02:29 am (UTC)(link)
I definitely remember this being asked before...

Issei tends to cry more often at his friends being hurt than at anything directed at himself. He still will cry if the trauma is bad enough, but he's more free with it if he's crying for another's sake. He also cries much more often when the stress keeps building up.

...he also will tear up at incredibly sappy moments, in real life or otherwise, but shh, that's a secret.

Ggio tends to breakdown/cry when he's backed up into a physical/mental corner, these days when his situation is rubbed in his face or when he's reminded of less-than-pleasant incidents.

Mashiro will throw a fuss over little things, but for serious breakdowns only when she has to deal with her Hollow for extended periods of time, or the rare event that someone precious to her is threatened.

Mukuro's soul is as barren as the Sahara, he does not cry, he does not break down. The last time he had an incident was when he fought Tsuna; it probably won't happen again.

Copypasting my response from the last time we did this one, because mobile posting = laziness.

Renji doesn't cry. Not even when he begged Ichigo to save Rukia during the Soul Society arc. He's just not that type of guy. He gets sad, sure, but the only thing that would make him shed actual tears would be if something happened to Rukia. Even then, he's more likely to rage and self-destruct. If he did cry, he wouldn't want anyone to see it.

Becca's not really much for crying either. She's made of sterner stuff than that. Even after everything she sees, and despite being the youngest member of S.T.A.R.S., she only sheds tears twice in the games. Once when Chris told her that Richard had died, and again in Umbrella Chronicles, when they're rescued.

Since she joined DDD, she's cried a few times. She cried when she found out Wesker was alive, when they thought Jill was dead, when Vergil threw her out after he got his memories back, and during the what if virus when Dante told her that Wesker never released Uroboros and the last six weeks of her life were a lie. And I'm sure she shed a few tears in the shower after the virus where she thought she was in a relationship with Wesker and Dante. Mostly, she cries when she's sad or frustrated or things are just too overwhelming.

Tyki - A fellow Noah getting killed. That's canon! None of the Noah knew what to do when they suddenly started crying upon Skin's death.

Akihiko - A friend dying (also canon. Sob, Shinji). He yells and punches things more than crying, but he does cry, too.

Shito - I'm not sure what would make him cry. Possibly nothing. He has a breakdown when he finally comes to feel protective/care about someone, and they are killed. He has lesser breakdowns upon being abused/raped by Toho.

Dr. Stein - I'm not sure he cries, either. But he can have a breakdown when going crazy, lol. The madness wave gives him a major nervous breakdown, and he's completely catatonic.

Tseng - The death of a close friend would make him cry, BUT HE WOULD NEVER LET ANYONE SEE

Gale - He doesn't comprehend sadness :|

I definitely remember this~ I shall merely link to my old comment and then do Junpei because he's new. :>

Ten, Pearls, Alle, Arthur, and Lylefais are here~ (http://community.livejournal.com/adddictions/95708.html?thread=23194844#t23194844)

Now, Junpei: I've only just picked him up so I'm still getting a feel for him, but continuing my long and upstanding tradition of playing derpy/dorky woobies... well, actually, Junpei doesn't cry all that much. THAT BEING SAID, he'll blub like a baby when he's really badly OMGHELPME terrified out of his wits (I mean come on, Akihiko found him crying in a convenience store the first time he experienced the Dark Hour). Aside from that though, usually when he's pissed off or upset Junpei just gets really pissy or ragey depending on the situation. He'll go slightly woobie when something bad happens, but the only time he'll ever really break down and start crying properly that we've seen is when someone he cares about dies. ):

... oh and apparently in Persona 3 FES, if you get the story path where you can revive Chidori he cries tears of apparent happiness, but I think that was more an overload of emotion more than anything else. ): Poor guy.

Mega Man: I'm...not exactly sure if he can cry, without special fluids or something being replaced constantly. If he could it would be over the normal things like any young boy would, probably a bit more often actually. However physically harming you is more likely going to earn you a retort and a buster shot or something, then any tears.

He's a huge pillar of strength, but anything regarded to harming or hurting his family, and succeeding in that endeavor, will probally cause him to break down.

Batou: When members of Section 9 are seriously threatened or injured, whether it's the Major, the Rookie, or the Tachikoma, he looses it a little. Certain abuses of innocents can also cause him to loose control, though usually not too badly (see: S1 ep.10 or S2 ep.18).

Gesicht: [SPOILER]

Robert: Being left alone.

Vimes: Vimes does not have breakdowns. He has Crowning Moments of Awesome. ...Well, okay, the injustices of the world turned him into an alcoholic for years and he had a breakdown in Men at Arms when he was taken off a case and being stuck in the past almost caused him to have a breakdown until he got proof that the future still existed. BUT GENERALLY SPEAKING, Vimes does not have breakdowns.

Hector: He cries when someone he loves is murdered and then pretty much gets violent shortly after that.

That gif is dancing in tune to a rock opera that's playing on itunes and I can't stop laughinggggg

Editing/copying from last time:

Tamaki will cry TEARS OF DRAMA at any point they're necessary, but surprisingly you've never actually seen him cry for a serious occasion. I could imagine him crying if like... someone close to him died or was seriously injured, but he doesn't cry seriously that often.

Itsuki will cry when he's at the VERY END OF HIS ROPE, but not before. He's really good at repressing when he's upset.

Rise cries at sad movies. And happy movies. And when she's worried. And when she's mad. And when she's upset. She turns on the fucking waterworks okay :| She's very good at crocodile tears, but she also just naturally shows her emotions on her sleeve.

Surprisingly, it actually takes a lot to make Nena cry. You only ever see her cry in canon when her brothers die, and even then it's more ABSOLUTE SHOCK + TEARS than bawling. She's totally fine with turning on crocodile tears to get her way, but she honestly barely ever cries at all.

Mileina makes it through death-defying piloting stunts, heated battles, and god knows what else very well. The only time you see her so much as tear up in canon is when a fellow operator turns on the crew and puts a gun to her head to hold her hostage. Honestly, even then, I think most of it was SOMEONE I LIKE AND TRUST HAS TURNED ON US AND NOW EVERYONE'S FIGHTING ;A;!!!!!! rather than being in danger.

Sheryl, like Itsuki, only cries when she's at the very end of her rope, only in her case it's because her SHEER FORCE OF WILL!!!!! carries her through the rest of the time.

V broke down after that whole business with Evey getting imprisoned and her leaving him....past that, his mental strength is pretty high.

Dumbledore is also a tough cookie to crack. IIRC the only time he's seen crying is during the discussion in DH of his sister's death and of him and Grindelwald. That's still an incredibly sore spot for him.

ITALY CRIES ALL THE TIME. Most of the time over dumb stuff, but he bounces right back. Stuff that will cause a breakdown, though? Talking about atrocities that have occurred in Italy in the past (ESPECIALLY the Salo Republic, which is a whole big bundle of issues), the bad things he's done as part of war, the Holy Roman Empire and his supposed death.

Ichigo stopped crying in public after his mother died. Seriously, he's kind of emotionally fucked - hence Shiro's evil - and will just not be able to cry in front of anyone. Even later in canon when it would probably do the poor kid some good (ーー;)

Lucas was often called a crybaby when he was younger and he spent the first two days after his mother died crying at her grave, while his brother went and apparently got himself killed. He's decided he's not going to cry anymore, but he's not very good at keeping to that. He has cried a few times since then, but only when he was alone.

Akabane: Nothing :|

Mion: Despite being a hardass, she'll cry during stressful times, especially when her friends shunt her or she thinks that she's lost someone she cares deeply for.

Shion: She'll cry if she thinks it can get her guys or if she's remembering Satoshi, but she really doesn't cry as much as her sister.

Yuffie: She's a hard girl, and will only cry if something really bad happens. When she does, however, she'll be damned if she actually lets anyone see her crying.

Inuyasha: He tries to keep his emotions completely locked away, but when a woman he loves dies, he'll cry over her. So far that has only happened a grand total of twice.

Morrigan doesn't cry. Okay, yeah, she does. Just where no one can see it. She did, however, cry more when she was younger before Flemeth beat that habit out of her. And, knowing Flemeth, most likely that's literally. She did find a nice little corner and sulk after*THE FOLLOWING SMALL STRIKE TEXT IS MAJOR SPOILERS* she found out that Flemeth was only raising her so Flemeth could kill her and use her body to expand her unnatural lifespan. This was of course done where no one could find her.

Terra sorrows a lot but crying? Not so much. But she would cry if something terrible (like death) happens to someone she knows/cared about. She probably did cry over the death of the Espers.

I have, like, 9 different crying/pouting/upset icons for Birkin, so. He'll get emo about... Well... Just about anything can hit him the wrong way depending on what kind of day he's having. As for a breakdown, anything that leaves him feeling lonely and vulnerable and jealous makes him freak the hell out.

KRAUSER CRIES NO TEARS.

Dojima can cry, but he doesn't usually. It'll take his dead wife and a few drinks to bring that out of him.

Phoenix (pasted from the last meme, wheeee |D)
Phoenix has been shown to cry when he's pushed to his breaking point, when it seems like everything is hopeless and there's nothing he can do that won't result in something terrible. He'd also cry happy tears if that situation could somehow be turned around, though he'd try not to show it. For the most part, he tries to be stoic, but he wears his heart on his sleeve, and even if he's not crying outwardly, that doesn't mean he wouldn't do so if he were alone. He'd also cry if someone he cared about died, and he cries at sad movies (which is why he haaates theeem). :|b

As for having a breakdown... I don't know. He's a strong guy. I think it would take losing everything for him to actually break down, which is somewhat implied in Apollo Justice. Trucy was his light during that dark, dark period. ;3;

Devit
Devit cries out of sheer frustration. If he really just can't deal with something, and shouting and cursing and making a fuss doesn't get him his way or make him feel any better, he'll cry. He'd also cry if he were left alone for a long period of time or if something bad happened to Jasdero. (Actually, he'd probably be a sobbing mess if the latter happened.)

I think I could only see him breaking down if Jasdero actually died. He... wouldn't really know how to function anymore. It'd take a long time to recover from something like that, if he even could.

Jack has cried a few times in Torchwood. He doesn't cry when he loses just anyone, because he's lived too long and will live far longer and he's hardened to that fact. But when he feels responsible for the death of another, especially a loved ones, that's when it really gets to him. Generally it's only tears when that happens, though, as is the case with Tosh and Owen and Estelle. The most we've ever seen him upset about someone is, well... So, it takes something really really horrible to get him to really break down and cry.

Ianto's one of those stiff upper lip types. I think he's cried twice in the series--once being when literally everything he had lived for was ending, as was the case with Lisa. His friends were going to kill his girlfriend, and he knew what had happened was all his fault, and he didn't know how to fix it, so he hit rock bottom. He didn't cry when Tosh or Owen died, though he did look pained, and he was really close to Tosh. The only other time he tears up is when, well... So I think in order to get him to cry, as with Jack or perhaps even worse than Jack's event, something really really horrible has to happen and he has to have no hope of ever getting out of the situation.

...Am I a horrible person for being excited to play through CoE (and fix the happenings later, but still) to have the angst?

Leon: Only cries in dire straits, and even then, it's in private. He's got to be the one to keep up the strong front, after all.

Rock: Has cried on multiple occasions, including when his mother died, when he found out about Kain's true intentions, and after the HSAU [mostly because of the fact that he was in a somewhat normal family for once; it felt nice, and he missed that.]. He'll break down if something extremely traumatic happens, but he does try hiding it.

Firion: Has cried a few times, but not full-on bawling, just silent tears while he shook with rage. And that was mostly after finding out good friends and comrades of his were killed so he and the others could get everything they needed in order to defeat David Bowie the Emperor. He hates seeing people throw their lives away, even if it's for noble intentions.

Jin: Cried a lot as a kid, honestly. Toughened up after a while, and now he doesn't really cry. If he did, it would have to be something extremely traumatic to make him crack.

Nate: Cries if he gets an emotional overload while reading someone's mind, but other than that, he hasn't been seen crying much. Not even after Forge's death did he cry, he just vowed to get revenge on Sinister and Apocalypse for what had been happening.
