[He had been to a festival. Once or twice. (And beneath the bob and sway of lanterns, he remembers the first time. The unfamiliarity. The press of people at his sides. The liveliness. What a city should be like, he supposed, and now would be unaccustomed to the stillness. The lack of sounds. Of lights.) And even here, along the outskirts, the noise still carried. Sharp and awake. Alive.

And it seemed simpler to smile. Usual and unusual. Some smaller joy seated at the corners of his lips. (Now, he was able to share this.)]

[She's excited and fascinated, but at the same time, she can't enjoy the sights and sounds as much as she'd like to; it's too embarrassing to run around in childish wonder, but also, she's nervous and a little frightened. She doesn't like crowds - but worse, these are unfamiliar crowds, in a place she doesn't know, and she's not sure of the dangers, or what to do if anything should happen.

So she stays very close to Kaworu, fingers lingering on the fabric of his shirt, hiding a little behind him as they walk but doing her best not to cling; she doesn't want to be a nuisance, or come off as completely useless.]

[He can feel the way she holds to him. The way she stays. Lingers. Close. (A sort of nervousness, a kind of quelled excitement. A dislike of such gatherings. Of such a number of people. But - And he can feel the fainter anxiety. Feel the need to keep not too near, bu -) And he's careful to keep to what makes her comfortable. Careful to keep to a speed that is easiest for her. Careful to make certain not to push entering the festival - too early or too late. He allows her to adjust - a little at a time. At her own pace.

At her own rate, and so when he leads them further in - it is a fainter reassurance in the way he gently reaches back. Just enough. Rests his fingers, almost too lightly, on her wrist.

He will let her choose where she wishes to visit.]
