They came together. He stuck the key in their shared acquaintance's door and went inside. Xelloss stifled a cough when the dust billowed up.

"Goodness. He wasn't joking."

"It'll turn out okay after a quick Spring Cleaning," said Roze, who laughed lightly behind a hand. She ventured into the kitchen while he went into the living room.

He shoved the glasses he didn't need to wear into his bangs and sank into the couch. If he wanted to hide a magical artefact, where would he put it?

A fresh breeze blew in. Roze had opened a window. She called his name and suggested it might help if he did the same thing. He sighed and pulled the glasses back over his nose.
