How has roleplay affected your personal views.

One positive effect of me becoming depressed, is that I tend to get a lot of ideas, and really live in my head as I slowly raise out of it. Never during, though. Life just sucks during.

ANYWAY.

Has the roleplay of a particular character changed your point of view on something from real life? Made you see, or switch over to, the other side of an argument?

Roleplaying Bertie and an OC Thomas Gates has affected me on a personal level, in helping me see the sunnier side of life. I think I enjoy little things more, and feel better about being silly or 'frivolous' when I'm not depressed. In other words, before, even when I wasn't in a depression, I wasn't very happy, and was serious, sarcastic, and cynical. A chunk of that was just me being an adolescent, but Bertie, not just playing him but reading his stories, has really helped me giggle more.

How about you? Has a fictional character measurably changed your outlook? Particularly through role-play?
