Even after the Big Reveal, Naoto's still pretty reluctant to show off her body. Unless she really trusts you and she's also in love with you. Hello, Christmas Eve date! (Yeah, the Protagonist beds whichever girl you got to fall in love with you...)

This is my third attempt, so I'm trying to date her, as well! I ALSO FELT BAD FOR STEALING HER FROM KANJI! D:

Although, I have seen the videos of "Christmas Eve Misogyny" and I do kinda dislike the idea that you have to "force Naoto to be a girl" in order to get her to love you. I like to think it's more a matter of allowing Naoto to feel comfortable enough in her own skin which allows her the opportunity to become intimate with another person. She needs to be assured that she is beautiful, sexy, and desirable just the way she is.

I do have some issues with some bits of P4. I do like your way of looking at it, but I also have issues with the way they dealt with Kanji. It's like somehow he accepts who he is, but then just hides it just as much... like "OH NO I WAS NEVER GAY RLY IT'S JUST THAT I WAS AFRAID I WAS"

It just really seems not to jive with how they explained the shadows and what happened with the others.

I have to double check this, but I think they had a different writing team for the S. Link scenario scripts than they do for the main story script. That might explain some things...

Kanji's arc is still better, in the sense that his "official" sexual orientation is "whatever is funniest at the time" which is the closest we'll get to any sort of statement. It's nice that they leave it open-ended enough for the fans to determine what his sexual orientation is. I certainly approve of Hermy's explanation for it! He's Naoto-sexual. (http://community.livejournal.com/adddictions/94283.html?thread=22953035#t22953035) That's all we need to know.

Huh, that does make it make a bit more sense, but it still annoyed me greatly. I like the idea that he's Naoto-sexual, though XDDDD

Naoto's storyline did annoy me for those reasons, too, but I guess I concluded that she was learning to accept herself for who she was, like you said. I think that means that sometimes she's a boy, and sometimes she can be a girl, but really she's just Naoto.

Here, have my incredibly rambling tl;dr thoughts on Naoto's gender issues right here! (http://community.livejournal.com/adddictions/94283.html?thread=22909515#t22909515) I really do need to write a proper essay about it at some point...

Basically, I believe Naoto to be bigendered, with a little leaning toward masculine. Not so much a "man trapped in a woman's body," so to speak but "a man's spirit who resides comfortably in a woman's body and likes to sometimes dress like a woman when the mood strikes". Her psyche is too fluid to be forced into a definite choice for a body, because she oscillates between being a "man" and being a "woman." She is what she is.
