So the Timey-Wimey Virus is Thursday and Friday! It's sneaking right up on us and I thought we'd better start plotting soon.

Here's the description of this virus.

"With the nature of the community, a lot of characters have derailed from canon to various degrees. Because of other viruses, they had false memories of living in alternate universes for however long, even sometimes requiring an alternate back story put together. Now, you figure some characters that have been around for a year or more have been through an AU virus of some sort, resulting in memories of an alternate timeline.

So what would happen if their memories started leaking together? What would happen if they had moments where they thought the alternate timeline was the real timeline while living in their real timeline?"

So, to plan for this, start gathering up all the alternate timeline memories your character has and start throwing ideas around.

Hello everyone! Consider this your official grab-bag virus plotting post. With so many viruses available to play with, there are tons of options for you to ~~torment your characters~~ enjoy playing through with your characters!

The Grab-bag Virus takes place April 15th through April 22nd.

You may affect your character with up to three viruses that you have not done before, or one that you have.

The Red String of Fate virus entail your character having a magical red string tied to their finger. On the other end of that string is their soulmate. For this virus, it doesn't actually have to be their real soulmate, but they'll "know" in their heart that it is the person they are destined to be with.

If you're with someone else in-game, you'll still be with them and know that you love them, so it might cause some conflicts there. Your characters are not required to have any actual feelings for the person they're tied to (if you'd like, they may), but if they try to get away, break/cut the string, or even try to avoid the other person, the string will shorten and pull tighter like one of those finger traps. In the same right, if they get close, cuddle, or act all lovey-dovey with each other then the string will loosen and stretch.

For this virus, you may willingly choose your character's partner via plotting or go through a randomizer to have your partner chosen for you. Because of the last minute nature of this plotting post, I will post a list of randomized partners each day during the virus based on who all signs up. This virus will run from February 14th-February 17th, putting it at 4 days (so that if you need planning time, you can still start a little late.)

Because your character needs to be with their partner during this virus, "spontaneous worldhopping" will occur. Character A might jump to Character B's world unexpectedly, or vice versa. You will need to plot out whose world they'll be playing in. There will not be a log for this virus, you will need to make posts on your own.

Hey there! I was going to get these up last night but I fell asleep before I could post them, so now that it's morning, here are the housing assignments for those who signed up last night:

Okay, gang! Several hours and a frankly embarrassing number of papercuts gained while picking names out of a hat later, we have 25 houses randomly assigned for the Ski Resort Event.

To reiterate, each lodge comes equipped with a roaring fireplace, a cupboard full of board games, and a fully-stocked fridge. (You won't ever see the staff refill it, but rest assured, every morning it will be full again.) Also provided is a wardrobe full of warm clothes in each character's size, including coats, hats, scarves, and gloves. They might be in ridiculously bright colours and have patterns that look like bus seats, but at least they're comfortable! Characters will also find anything they can't live without in their rooms as well, like magic gems or medicine, so don't worry about that.

The houses have four small bedrooms, one bathroom, a large and comfortable sitting room with fireplace, and a mini kitchenette. The fridge has drinks from soda to beer to vodka (although alcohol rules from the open bar in the dining hall still apply) and various snacks and sandwich fillings etc. If you can think of it, it's probably in there.

I'll also take this opportunity to mention a surprise that a couple of you might have guessed at - on the Friday night, a massive snowstorm will knock out all power and heating! All guests will be therefore rounded up and housed in the main lodge, as per safety procedure. This includes sleeping bags, extra blankets, and amenities like hot chocolate etc. What this basically means is the last night of the trip is going to be spent in a huge communal sleepover! (Better stake out your floor claim for your sleeping bag and blanket and protect it, with more than a hundred DDD members here it's gonna be a bit of a squash, but at least it'll be warm....)

For those of you who want to try your luck with randomised housing, here is where you leave a comment! Please leave your character's name and username.

You can sign up in partners, as long as you have the other mun's permission. Please only do this if you have good reason, though - the randomiser is intended to facilitate new CR!

Remember that wishes (made with pure intentions, ie no harmful 'i wish x would die/y's business would fail/z would get an STD' type wishes) are almost guaranteed to come true, so please be wary of what your character wishes for. For example, only have them wish to find true love if you already have plans to get them together with another character in 2013! Any wishes that might affect another character (eg if your character wishes to be kissed by another) need to be plotted here.

Issei would like for all characters to turn in their gifts by the 23rd, which gives them about two weeks to get something for their assigned person. By the 25th at the latest, all the gifts will be given out.

SO THIS IS THE AFOREMENTIONED THREAD PLANNING POST.

Basically, once you have your group, this post is for you to come up with things that'll scare the crap out of everyone else. "X'll probably get so mad that he'll kick some tables in the hallway", "Y's really nervy, he'll be firing off the shotgun at the slightest noise", "Z's gonna grab the first thing that looks like a bludgeon and carry it around, so you might see it floating on its own", for example.

Things that will be noticeable cross-planes:
- Actions that affect physical objects (kicking, throwing, closing, opening, jarring, smashing, etc)
- The guns going off, and the rock salt
- The sound of running feet
- Screaming
- Any morbid words in a conversation (kill, death, die, hurt, scared, etc etc) - the whole sentence won't be audible, but a character might hear someone else's "They're going to kill us all! We're gonna die here!" as a quiet 'kill us all....die here...' etc. Also the character's name, in the same way.

A note on the guns - they can shoot cross-planes, but being as those bullets only affect actual ghosts, they won't be able to kill or seriously injure anyone. This idea may be lifted wholesale from Supernatural, but salt being a spook deterrent is old folklore - it's just that the characters aren't actually dead. You can (temporarily) banish one of the real ghosts by shooting it, but it's just gonna hurt like a bitch if you catch a community member with it.

We encourage you to read other peoples' threads once it gets going, too - sometimes unexpected things happen in those things that could be great fodder for your own, and don't worry about timelines - this is a haunted house with ghosts, consider it thoroughly timey-wimey.

Speaking of the ghosts - much like the haunted cruise ship event we did a while back, you're welcome to use ghosts in small ways to make things happen and freak out your characters some more, or if you want us as mods to jump in there with some NPC spooks, just let us know!

HI GUYS

Time got a little bit away from us on this one, sorry about that - are we all excited for the Haunted House? :3 :3 :3

How this is gonna work is a little mindfucky, because that's how we like it. Basically, we'd like you to get into groups of 1-4 (they can be bigger, if you want, just be aware of the exponentially greater difficulties of threading with big groups), and each group is going to be ~alone in the haunted house~. Except they totally aren't, because every group is in the same house, they just can't see or touch each other. No john you are the ghosts, etc.

Of course there totally are ghosts too, because what would Halloween be without ghosts? They're enjoying the chaos and they'll be working to scare characters - especially into doing shit that'll freak out other people (slamming doors, breaking things, throwing things, shooting things, etc) - but the majority of the scares are gonna come from seeing shit happen around you and not knowing what's causing it, and that shit is other community members being just as scared/angry/etc.

Now, the plotting post for 'shit that Group X will cause to happen that your characters might notice' threads is over here. This post is for gathering your groups together. They're gonna turn up in the big spooky house with a flashlight and a shotgun full of rock salt shells between them, however big the group.

So get to gathering, and don't be afraid of using this as a chance to make new CR!

So it's coming up at the end of the month and maybe some want to reveal their plans and maybe some aren't sure yet and need some advice. Either way, feel free to plot up in here!

As I originally envisioned these as two seperate viruses I think it'd be fine to also combine them or have a character affected by one type for a couple of days, then something else (maybe completely different) for the rest of the virus. Mix it up or keep to the one sin/virtue. Up to you!

Evil turned pure. Goodness turned wicked. Bad turning badder or nice turning even nicer. So many options...
