we all live in a pokemon woooorld

fml this is all indirectly Styx's fault, and also indirectly Jisu and Andy's fault.

the POKÉMON meme
( i'm gonna be the greatest master of them all )

so. we have memes about "what kind of Pokemon are you?", but this one is a little different.
tell us (and discuss with others!) what your characters would be like if they lived in a Pokemon world. what types do they train? what do they specialise in?
not everyone is your average trainer! there are Gym Leaders, Elite members, contest coordinators, etc. and even just those average people who don't care for Pokemon - or are absolutely terrified of them.
there are lots of other interesting facts you could share! maybe they travel with someone else, or maybe there's an interesting bit of history you want to inculde? whatever you'd like! feel free to comment around and create some sort of... huge group of trainers that travel together. or find yourself a rival!
ladies, don't show Kaito your panties.

ALRIGHT I FOUND THE POKEMON MEME FROM A WHILE BACK 8D

Kaito (and a copypasta): "He'd have a well balanced team, I think. No specific type, and no rhyme nor reason for why he has what he has other than wanting one of everything. He'd go for strategy over brute strength and defense, and he'd definitely take advantage of type weaknesses. Umbreon would be his strongest and probably his starter. Charmeleon, Luxray, Crocanaw, Marowak and Pidgeotto would be the others. Pidgeotto would help him with magic tricks. :3"

As for the other questions, his backstory about his dad being murdered still holds true, and he's still Kaitou Kid. And I get the feeling in Pokemon land the Black Ops = Team Rocket, so he'd definitely be doing a lot of investigating as far as they were concerned. He probably started training Pokemon as a Kid (since like. Everyone starts training at age 10 or something) and racked up a few gym badges underneath his belt. But he probably put his actual training and gym badge earning on hold to do the Kaitou Kid gig. He travels a lot (most likely alone so people don't pin him as Kid, unless Aoko knows he's Kid in this verse and comes with him). So yeah. XD

IDK ABOUT THE OTHERS I'LL COME BACK TO THEM.

Akako (and another copypasta): "She would train dark, psychic and ghost-types. Haunter, Grumpig, Mismagius, Duskull, Houndoom and Gardevoir. Brute strength, little strategy."

She probably honestly wouldn't care that much about earning gym badges or being 'the very best' or anything. She'd just be a wandering fortune teller who battled for fun (or perhaps some nice rewards from the boys she fights). She'd win sometimes, but others she'd lose becaues of her lack of strategy.

Renji doesn't worry about having a balanced team, going more for brute strength and iron defense over strategy. He leans towards fire Pokemon but doesn't specialize in any particular type, choosing his team by their strength and how cool they are, not their type. He's drawn to canine Pokemon, like Growlithe and Mightyena, and most of his team's moves are offensive, not defensive. "Take them out in one hit" is his motto.

His dream team: Mightyena (starter), Manectric, Growlithe, Steelix, Vigoroth and Entei (s-shut up, he can so have a Legendary okay).

For his history, um...he was raised by his hard-working mom after his deadbeat dad skipped town. He grew up next door to Rukia and her older sister Hisana, until Hisana married Byakuya, who's not only an expert trainer but also one of the Elite Four. Rukia didn't want to move away and leave Renji but she had no choice, so Renji's reason for becoming a trainer and collecting gym badges is to become strong enough to defeat Byakuya.

Also, I have this idea that I kind of love of of him running into Entei, who easily defeats him but is so impressed by his resolve that he offers to lend him his power. BECAUSE THESE THINGS TOTALLY HAPPEN IN POKEMON, OKAY. And then when Renji finally challenges Byakuya, Byakuya can be all "...I didn't know you'd captured a Legendary" and Renji would be like "I didn't. But a man like you who doesn't notice what's below him wouldn't understand." And then an epic fight follows that Renji inevitably loses, but he still earns Byakuya's respect anyway.

...n-no, I have not thought about this too much.

WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS TO ME YOU KNOW I CAN'T RESIST POKEMON OR AUS

Ten would be a Pokemon trainer who doesn't really care about earning Gym badges - he'd be the sort who's just in the whole thing so he can travel the world and meet new people and Pokemon. No one knows what region he's from or even what his hometown is, and he's certainly not telling. His pokedex would probably be insanely complete and the envy of all the Pokemon profs because they can never get ahold of him, ha ha.

His starter was his Lapras which he came across being hunted one day and of course that shit is not cash so he rescued it and they're now best pals. :> His team in the state he'd probably have them in is: Lapras (starter), Dragonair, Gardevoir, Meganium, Pidgeot, and Espeon. Also, it's rumoured that he's got a rival who he's been battling since they were kids and who's currently trying to work his way up through the ranks of Team Galactic...

ALSO. People think that because he hasn't got that many Gym badges, he's not that tough of a trainer. They get a nasty shock when they challenge him. :')

Pearl is from Kanto and grew up in Lavender Town. Since she's a medium from a long line, and one with a lot of power to boot, she probably grew up helping to take care of the Pokemon spirits in Lavender Tower. So she's been around Ghost Pokemon her whole life and isn't afraid of them one bit. :> Mr. Fuji is probably a special friend of hers and she probably has a special branch of RAWR for people who abandon their Pokemon because of it.

She probably left the town with Maya when the pokeverse's version of Phoenix came along, and she's been travelling with them ever since. Her starter Pokemon was a Gastly that followed her around whenever she was inside Lavender Tower - it played tricks on her at first but they soon became quite close and in the end it just followed her out of the town. :') The rest of her team is her Clefairy, Jigglypuff, Vulpix, and Pidgey that she caught all in Kanto, and she has a Drifloon that she caught while on holiday in the Sinnoh region.

She isn't really all that interested in the Pokemon League - she just battles for fun - but she is interested in the Pokemon Contests, so she probably trains her Pokemon for those. Also she spoils them rotten with pokeblocks and poffins and massages and goodness knows what else.

Hardly anyone ever went into the Pokemon Tower if they weren't a medium anymore. Pearl didn't know if it was because people had forgotten about their deceased Pokemon, or if they didn't know about the Tower, or if they were just afraid of the ghosts. But for whatever reason it was, she thought it was sad. After all, the ghosts weren't scary, not really. They were just sad, or lonely. Maybe even a little angry sometimes, but they weren't scary.

Well, they did surprise people sometimes. But they weren't scary.

Pearl gave a little shriek and jumped as a large pink tongue licked the side of her face, turning to find a Gastly - her Gastly, although she wasn't really sure if she could call it hers or not since she hadn't caught it - floating there chuckling at her. "You startled me!" she told it, and frowned and wagged her finger at it. "I told you to stop doing that."

Gastly just chuckled more and licked her again happily before circling around her head, and Pearl giggled. "You want to play a little, right?" she asked, and it grinned wider.

"Well, okay," she said. "I've helped quite a lot today, so I guess I can play with you."

Gastly zoomed around her head again in excitement. Pearl laughed; really, when they were like this, how could anyone be scared of Ghost Pokemon?

Morrigan keeps to herself. She lived with her mother, an old experienced trainer, until they had a falling out. She was kicked out and was forced to join a couple of wandering trainers until she ditched them. Morrigan just wants to travel and prove that she's just not the daughter of Flemeth.

Many people think it's odd that someone so old hasn't already started traveling but Morrigan really doesn't pay attention to that. She knows that she's a good trainer, even if she's not a teenager.

Her strategy is raw power, she pushes herself and her Pokemon to the utter limits. Some call her methods of training cruel but she says that she doesn't care what they say.

Her Pokemon are a mixture of types, usually picked for their wildness: Persian, Araidos, Golem, Ursaring, Granbull, and Feralgatr (starter).

Dojima would be a cop, former traveler and trainer. He, when he was just a pup, traveled the world with his male Nidoran and his best friend, Chisato and her female Nidoran. Eventually both their Pokemon grew and so did they. Chisato and Dojima fell in love, they moved back to their little town they lived in bringing back their Pokemon.

They married, Nanako was born, and Dojima started training as a cop with the local Officer Jenny. Everything was fine and happy until Chisato was killed in a hit and run. Dojima was devastated, naturally. Leaving Nanako at home, he started wandering to the local towns as sort of a travelling officer. He'd take challenges from trainers but he's more of a job-driven person.

His Pokemon team is varied, and all high level because he's had most of them since he was ten: Nidoking (starter), Nidoqueen (once Chisato's), Arcanine, Gifarig, Electrode, Hariyama, Vaporeon.

Terra would be an orphan who turned to Pokemon training when she decided her foster family was up to no good (and working with Team Rocket). Her father, Maduin, was a Gym Leader before his untimely assassination by Team Rocket. Eventually Terra hopes to reclaim her father's gym.

Her strategy would be focused on fire power, and getting the enemy down fast. She trains each with care, she wants to show that she can love-even though her adoptive family would always say she couldn't. Her team would be a mix between fighting and fire types: Charizard (starter), Machamp, Primape, Hitmonchan, Rapidash, Flareon.

Tira was once part of a criminal family, the Flock of Passage, but they were disbanded when she was young. But not before being given her first Pokemon, a Pidgey. This led to her being adopted by a normal family, she didn't quite fit in but not from lack of trying. Eventually she got in a fight with her adoptive parents and (not killing them in this universe) took her Pokemon and ran. She wasn't a criminal, yet, but she soon become one.

Her being informally disowned made her extremely depressed. Using her Pokemon, she started a crime wave--stealing, mugging, even the odd assassination. Yet it didn't satisfy her. Eventually she heard about a trainer calling himself the Azure Knight. She found him and joined forces with him.

Now she and Nightmare, the Azure Knight's true name, are partners in crime. Her Pokemon are mostly flying types: Murkrow (a gift from Nightmare), Pidgeot (starter), Fearow, Dodrio, Haunter, and Noctowl.

can you tell I put way too much thought into these

Arthur, as Ichi already said, travels round with his (in this AU) little sister Terra because like hell is he letting her travel round the world on her own. 8| He spends most of his time scaring off the cute boys that Terra tries to flirt with. B| ICHI THEY NOW COME FROM JOHTO OKAY? OKAY. A huge, dysfunctional family in Johto, come to that, s-so many siblings sob. They have relatives all over all the regions that they've been visiting for like, their entire lives.

You know the first line of the old anime theme tune? "I wanna be the very best, like no one ever was?" Set it to music that's a little less cheesy and that's Arthur. He's that classic kid-that-wants-to-take-on-every-gym-and-every-Elite-Four-and- win. Oh yeah, he's that ambitious. But at the same time as being a competitive little shit he gets really attached to his Pokemon, ha ha. In fact some people are surprised that he's as kind to them as he is because he's such a tsuntsun bastard to everyone else, not to mention ruthless to fight against in a Pokemon battle. Well, come on, it's him, what do you expect.

He mostly trains grass and water types - his starter was a Bulbasaur. His team as it stands now is his Ivysaur, a Kingdra and a Dewgong that he caught as Horsea and Seel in the Whirlpool Islands, Noctowl, a Roselia that he caught as a Budew in the Ilex Forest, and a Cubone. Yes, a gorram Cubone, he felt sorry for the poor thing okay NOT THAT HE WILL EVER ADMIT THAT. .___.

Lyle was born in the Hoenn region in Mauville City. And yep, you guessed it, he's still got the inferiority complex. He and Neil went out and caught their starters - a Plusle and a Minun - with their parents while they were still teenagers. I can imagine the twins travelled round together at first but because Neil is... well, Neil, he would've always been that little bit much better, even in double battles, which of course would have frustrated Lyle no end.

After their parents and sister were badly injured - not killed in this universe - by Team Aqua and Team Magma causing some trouble with the New Mauville power station and blowing a lot of shit up because of it, the twins raced back to see if they were okay (and boy, were they scared). After seeing that the rest of their family had recovered, the twins went their separate ways on their Pokemon journeys.

Lyle's now travelling with his friend Klaus who he met in Rustboro city, and while Klaus seems to have a vendetta against both Team Magma and Team Aqua because of what they're planning to do to the world, Lyle's mostly just going with the flow. I mean, sure, he's not exactly their biggest fans or anything, and he'd fight them if he ran across them, but he's not interested in actively pursuing them. He's mostly concentrating on challenging the Gyms - partly out of fun and to see how far he can go, and partly to prove that he's just as good as Neil is - and making sure Klaus doesn't do anything too stupid on his wild goose chase.

Lyle prefers Pokemon that are lightning fast, so he mostly trains bird and electric types. As well as his signature Minun, his team consists of Swellow, Jolteon, Altaria, Electrabuzz, and Pidgeot.

this is for sukifais :'| [1/2]

[identity profile] not-that-lockon.livejournal.com 2010-05-13 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Klaus is the source of all my life's problems, Lyle thought dryly to himself as he stared at the cave wall that he'd managed to run into. Really, he'd told Klaus that going to investigate the cave near Lilycove City would be a bad idea - especially if the rumours about Team Magma setting up a base there were true. They were two guys in their twenties, and while Lyle's pokemon were all more or less capable since he'd had some of them for so long, it was still two of them against an entire crime syndicate.

An entire, crazed crime syndicate that looked more like members of a cult, come to that, he amended. And really, of course none of this, including the fact that Lyle could get trapped if they were separated - it wasn't as if he had any Pokemon that could Surf or move rocks - hadn't occurred to Klaus at all.

Yep, definitely the source of all his life's problems. How Klaus hadn't died already from his anti-Magma-and-Aqua vendetta was a mystery to Lyle, because Lyle was sure that his life expectancy had dropped significantly from all the times they'd encountered the group at close quarters. Speaking of which...

He sighed dramatically and turned to face the Magma grunt behind him. Well, at least one was better than fifty all at once, but of course it would be her who'd followed him. "We just keep on running into each other like this," he said lazily.

The grunt took down her hood and shook out her red hair. "You're the one who keeps looking for us!" she said perkily. "It's like you two just enjoy getting your asses kicked."

"Funny, I seem to remember we won last time," he quipped, grabbing a Pokeball from his belt. "Up for a rematch?"

Nena grinned. "Only if you're ready to lose~"

Their battles always started off the same way - she would send out her Torchic while he sent out his Minun. The two of them were more or less evenly matched, and really, sending out those first two was just a warm-up, a game. They might technically be enemies, but damn it if they didn't both enjoy their battles together. Part of it was because he didn't underestimate how powerful her Pokemon were just because they were so cute.

Hey, he used a Minun as his signature Pokemon, and he'd never let Lyle down yet; Nena should have known better than to expect him to fall for that one even once.

"Alright, Torchic, take him down with your Flamethrower!"

"Like that's gonna work," Lyle said in amusement as his Minun jumped out of the way of the painfully hot flames; there was a reason he trained his Pokemon to be fast. "Zap her with Charge Beam, Minun." The small mouse Pokemon nodded and curled in on itself, charging for a brief second before the brilliant beam of electricity shot out of its body right at Nena's Torchic, which squawked loudly as it was hit.

"Hey!" Nena shouted as her beloved Pokemon twitched weakly. She fished around quickly for another Pokeball. "Alright, let's see how you like this!" She smirked, tossing her Pokeball into the air. "Kick his ass, Charizard!"

Charizard?! Hadn't that thing been a Charmander the last time they met? Minun took an involuntary step back as the enormous lizard filled the cave, but after a quick glance back at Lyle, steeled itself in the face of the much bigger Pokemon.

"Oh no you don't," Lyle muttered, reaching for Altaria's Pokeball - maybe her Dragonbreath could -

"Overheat!"

There was only a split second before the huge blast of fire hit, knocking his Minun off its feet and propelling him back into Lyle along with the wave of flames that was spreading out - he'd get a nice sunburn off that, he thought dazedly just before he hit the wall behind him with a sharp yelp.

Junpei's from Goldenrod City, totally. I mean, it is one of the biggest and most technoligified cities in the games that looks a lot like Iwatodai sometimes and he's a city boy all over. XD; His starter was a Cyndaquil and he mostly trains fire and fighting type Pokemon - because it's Junpei, and fire and fighting Pokemon are cool and tough, okay. :|

His team is his Quivlava, Graveller, Growlithe, Ponyta, Fearow and a Tyrogue that's now evolved into a Hitmonchan. Junpei would have probably travelled around with this verse's Minato and Yukari for a bit, challenging the Gyms with them, but got discouraged and jealous of Minato's leet training abilities. So he probably would have stopped travelling with them and gone back to Goldenrod for a while to train his team some more, meaning that he would have been there during Team Rocket's takeover of the Radio Tower. Junpei being Junpei, he would have been an idiot and ran in there to try and stop them, and having got through a few grunts, promptly got his ass handed to him by a higher-level Rocket member Chidori (ICHI, SHIA AND HERMY I AM SORRY FOR THIS SHAMELESS GODMODDING HERE \;A;/). Who of course he promptly fell head-over-heels for and now his goal in life is to convince Chidori to leave Team Rocket and get a better life for herself. ;3;

Roxas is from the Sinnoh region, Sandgem Town to be exact. Sora's his brother in this 'verse and the two of them also have a cousin, Xion (shut up I did not take this background from DDD HSAU), who comes from the other side of Sinnoh. Sora and Roxas travelled around for a while together with Sora's friends Riku and Kairi, challenging the Gyms and such, until one day they ran foul of Team Galactic, who tried to steal their Pokemon. In the ensuing battle, Roxas fell off a ledge, was injured and suffered head trauma which completely scrambled his memories; he was found wandering around in a daze by Axel, a member of a special branch of Team Galactic, who took pity on him and enrolled him as one of Team Galactic's members.

Turns out that Xion had also managed to get caught up in Team Galactic's affairs, and while neither of them were exactly happy about being members, neither of them had much choice about it either. SO Roxas is currently travelling round Sinnoh with Axel and Xion, trying to get his memories back and carrying out Team Galactic's dirty work with not really much idea of what Team Galactic's real goal is. In the end he'll probably end up turning on Team Galactic just as he turns on the Organisation in canon and attempt to royally fuck their shit up. :|

Roxas doesn't particularly have a type preference because there is no Light type dammit - he'll train any kind of pokemon and treat them well - but his battle strategy is aggressive and he'd spend a lot of time training them, making him a bit of a force to be reckoned with. His team is: Empoleon (starter), Luxray, Butterfree, Staraptor, Ponyta, an East Sea Gastrodon, and occasionally switch one of them out for a Haunter.

Mileina is originally from Johto; both her parents work on the Magnet train as mechanics, and although she wants to be a mechanic when she grows up as well, she thinks that training Pokemon is a good way to see the world and travel to other places with different and exciting technology.

Her team is Pichu, Magnemite, Eevee (eventually Jolteon), Skarmory, Beldum, and Shinx. She doesn't battle much outside of friendly matches, and instead hones their abilities to help her power and test new technologies-- there's a reason she focuses on electric and steel types.

Kaworu's origins are unknown, though there mutters about him through Kanto, Johto, and Sinnoh. He's something of a wanderer. Never really resting here or there, what little is known about him is that he's exceptionally observant. Able to seemingly empathize and understand pokemon and people, he has a tendency to make a strong impression on anyone he permits himself to get closer to - or vice-versa. He's commonly sought out to figure out "behavioral issues" in pokemon, and often times he ends up turning it on their trainers. In some circles, he's believed to be able to communicate with them like they were a human. However, outside that - people don't know what to really make of him. Intelligent and polite, but he seems to lack common social skills (as usual). Nothing is really known of his past, and he's not speaking on it. What little people have tried to drag out of him, he's subsequently evaded or dodged. There are rumors that a few very select individuals know something of his past, but they're not prone to speak on it, either - not usually. They don't know enough.

He is known for traveling with two others - but it seems that sometimes he gets separated from them. They have different goals, understandably. Either way, he's never really consistently with anyone else. Occasionally he will get yelled at over his PokeNav if he's out attempting to assist someone who has bumped into him, but no one seems to have caught more than her name, yet. Generally, he's just as mysterious and seemingly inhuman as always. No one seems to be able to find him unless he expects to be found, and that has a tendency to weird people out.

Rumor has it that he was actually a part of Team Rocket, but no one has been able to really satisfy them. No one seems to be able to believe them enough to pursue them anyway, even if they are true. He was orphaned as a child, experimented on, and brought up in Team Rocket's facility under Giovanni, but he was able to break free from the organization - though he almost lost his life in the process. It's said that there's a boy that he risked his skin for - betraying the entire team because without his interference they would have assimilated him into the organization and he would have ended up like him. Though, there are other rumors - stranger ones. That that boy's father is the lead of one of the opposing organizations - but that can't be right, right? :>

In either case, Kaworu is known for his rather eccentric team. He doesn't force his pokemon to remain in their pokeballs, and for it they're very prone to following him around outside them. His Gardevoir, however, is always out and they've formed a close bond. Gardevoirs are also known for their martyr-like personalities, and for it it's really no wonder why they're so close.

Alongside this, Kaworu keeps this team, usually: Ninetails, Milotic, Eevee, Swablu, and Espeon. Occasionally he'll switch out for an Absol. In a lot of ways, Kaworu has an obvious slant toward psychic-types or those which can use psychic-type attacks. However, there is more reason for that than his empathy and his psychokinetic abilities.

According to Bulbapedia:

Ninetails is described as a pokemon with exceptional intelligence and rumored longevity. They're said to be able to control the minds of other people and place curses on those who harm them. While this is not something Kaworu would advocate at all - Ninetails can also wield ghost/psychic attacks because of their mythological origins in kitsunes. They're also apparently able to understand the speech of humans, like Gardevoir. However, it can't communicate telepathically like they can. His Ninetails, I should say, is also shiny. It looks something like a ghost because of it. The color palette for shiny Ninetails is silver with red eyes. This one also reminds him of someone. It's a little more tsundere than usual. :>

Milotic is said to be empathic, as it takes away feelings of negativity and soothes people (seeing a pattern?) - it obviously mirrors a lot of psychic-type pokemon in this way. They also dislike fighting/conflict and tend not to battle. Something that Kaworu tends to avoid, too.

Eevee is obviously known for a gene that allows it to evolve in many different fashions. It represents in a way, choice and change. And they're also extremely adaptable (see: resilient like people). So, you can see why Kaworu keeps one. It also reminds him of that boy he risked his skin for, but no one needs to know that. This Eevee tends to stick close by him and is really timid. :>

Swablu is known to be very musical and very organized. Kaworu obviously is very musically inclined himself - and needs all the help he can get with some aspects of organization. Swablu keeps track of his PokeNav for him, lmfao. Swablu also tend to sit on the heads of people, and Kaworu's Swablu is often found there. :|b

Espeon is actually something of a sunbather and fiercely loyal. Beyond the psychic abilities, you can probably see why Kaworu's fond of it. fff.

Absol is the other he sometimes switches out for - and they're also known for their exceptional intelligence and their ability to predict natural disasters. :>

It should also be said, that Kaworu is typically believed to be something of a weak trainer because he doesn't battle often. However, when people can convince him to battle for sport or if something is on the line that he wants to protect, he's actually extremely skilled. Kind of like Ten, people get a nasty surprise when they face him. However, he's never boastful of his abilities and tends to lend items to trainers for healing their pokemon after. |D;;

Ema Skye: She's a pokemon research in training! Probably an assistant to Professor Oak of some kind. She doesn't really have many badges, and she's absolutely terrible about battling, but she definitely wants to fill the PokeDex. Her sister's probably a gym leader in another town, and left her alone in the pokemon lab to go there. Given the story importance of this, Lana's probably Gym Leader No. 8, or else in the Elite Four. Ema's favorite pokemon's probably a Growlithe, for the police connection. Her other pokemon are probably either fire types or else chosen for their cute factor! Probably a mareep, too. I suspect that if Mr. Wright or Mr. Edgeworth were pokemonized, she'd travel in a group with them.

Luna Lovegood: Luna's probably from Lavender Town, and without a doubt she's got a Clefairy. No argument. She doesn't battle very much, but when she does, she does very, very well for someone her size. Mostly, she just derps around exploring, like Ema only with less science. She believes in pokemon that may not exist, think Legendary in scale and size. She doesn't have many gym badges, if any, and she doesn't actually seem to like fighting very much. Her father probably works at a radio station. Her pokemon tend toward the graceful, and aside from the Clefairy, she has a Drifblim, Zatu, Vaporeon, Rapidash, and Dratini. Mostly, she just lives in another world from everyone else, and probably spends a good bit of time in the Poke Tower with the ghosts.

Hanatarou Yamada (who I haven't apped yet): He's probably an assistant to the fourth gym leader, who in this case probably specializes in normal types and not grass. He's from Celadon, and tends to the gardens. He's the type of trainer who'd flail for an hour if his pokemon get poisoned, and probably takes very, very good care of them. He'd spoil them rotten, more than try and battle with them. He works in the gym by healing the pokemon in it after battles, win or lose, and of course he has a Chansey. Aside from the starring Chansey his other pokemon tend towards...well, they're all very cute. But also extremely annoying to fight, with a bunch of status affecting issues and so forth. Especially of concern is the Butterfree, which without a doubt knows Stun Spore, Sleeping Powder, Poison Powder, and Confusion. He also has a Magikarp, for it is the patron pokemon of derp, and probably also a Jigglypuff and a Vulpix. The Chansey will most likely end up evolving into Blissey, because of the aforementioned spoiling.

Why can I see Dojima helping Ema fill her Pokedex by lending her a Pokemon of his so she can catch wild ones more easily. Or just hanging around, listening to what she learned about Pokemon.

Karen is, to all appearances, a perfectly ordinary "Gym Leader underling" trainer under Volkner. The one thing that stands out about her isn't even related to her--it just happens that her father is one of the Elite Four (which Elite Four, and whether it's one of the canon ones or someone else, is indeterminate, what with her parents having no canon appearances, and ultimately immaterial). Her team of Linoone, Pachirisu, and Lopunny does little to inspire confidence in her skill as a trainer, and while she's better than the impression one might get from that, there's still little reason to believe she's particularly noteworthy.

Now, if you want to talk about an interesting trainer, let's talk about Cure Aqua. A mysterious female trainer who appears in the vicinity of Sunyshore City, she is rumored to be the reason Team Galactic never established a foothold in that city. Her Milotic, Starmie, and Empoleon destroy everything in their path, including people who think they're clever.

Zelgadiss is mostly noted for the fact that he's the great-grandson of Rezo Dearg, a researcher who was instrumental in developing a lot of the medical techniques used in modern Pokemon centers. But Zel's a competent Trainer in his own right; after all, he did catch his starter himself - a Cranidos that had been released by the trainer that brought it to the Battle Zone island, where he grew up. The thing turned up in his back yard in the Survival Area, apparently unhurt by the powerful Pokemon that inhabited the Battle Zone, and had put up quite a fight before he managed to catch it in a Heavy Ball imported from Johto.
He left home fairly late to start his journey, but now by his early 20s he's a skilled trainer, up to his fifth badge in Sinnoh - mostly because, driven as he can be about a goal when his mind's set, badges aren't his focus so much as traveling and becoming stronger.
His team is balanced, type-wise, although the rarity of his Pokemon does tend to get some interesting looks. It consists of a Rampardos (his starter, evolved, naturally), a Skarmory, a Luxray, a Houndoom, a Golduck, and a Noctowl.

Jak is another wandering trainer, one who mostly wanders around getting in the way of the police by picking fights with whatever criminal gang happens to be in the area. He has this tendency to win, too, which is why he hasn't actually managed to get in trouble by now. Mostly he hangs around Hoenn; he's originally from Dewford Town, which explains the hair - it's one of the few trends that actually stuck around for a while, started, naturally, by Brawley.
He's another with a balanced team - a Medicham (evolved from his starter), a Cacturne, a Lanturn, a Magcargo, and a Zangoose and Seviper that operate surprisingly well together.

Leila started out as a junior trainer with Fuschia City's gym, but she recently struck out on her own, intending to see what she could learn. She's much more choosy about her Pokemon than some trainers; the only ones she's got are the evolved forms of the ones she used in the gym, a Ninetales, an Ariados, and a Crobat. All three are blindingly fast - the Ariados shockingly so, since that particular breed of Pokemon isn't exactly known for it - and between her penchant for poisoning and burning her opponents' Pokemon and her speed and evasion, battles are often over before her opponents can land an attack. In other words, ninja training has served her well.

Aaand, because people have random people here, we'll add Pretty Butterfly. She comes from Ecruteak City, and she both trains and Coordinates; she started with a Cubone, which has since evolved into a Marowak, but her team also includes a Hitmontop, a Poliwrath (courtesy of a Water Stone she once received as a gift), a Misdreavus, a Noctowl, and, perhaps surprisingly, an Espeon. This last is partially because she admires Ecruteak's Kimono Girls, all of whom train evolutions of Eevee.
Hitmontop and Espeon tend to keep out of battles; she trains them primarily for participating in Contests, which are just beginning to take a foothold in Johto. Noctowl is not, in point of fact, her Pokemon in the sense that it lives in a Pokeball she owns; it's technically wild, and follows her around for inscrutable reasons of its own. Occasionally she'll turn to it when she needs advice. Marowak and Poliwrath will certainly fight, though, and her Misdreavus throws itself into battle with almost terrifying eagerness.
On a side note, Butterfly is something of a fighter herself, not shy about participating in martial arts competitions with surprising amounts of skill. Occasionally she'll even train alongside Hitmontop or Marowak, who tends to incorporate kendo into its fighting style.

Sam is originally from Ecruteak City in Johto, although he has a large and dysfunctional net of relatives (by which I mean step-siblings and half-siblings because his father's a bloomin whore) scattered all over the Pokemon world. :'| He doesn't get on with most of them - although he likes some better than others - and is the family's black sheep for the most part, having a special rivalry with one of his brothers and his group of friends in particular after a serious falling-out years ago :'>

OTHER THAN THAT Sam really doesn't care about the Gyms, lmao, but he's trained his pokemon enough so that they can look after themselves and him. :') He trains any type but specialises in Dark, Psychic and Ghost types. His usual line-up iiiiis: Umbreon, Sableye, Espeon, Gallade, Xatu, and Arcanine.
