HARRY POTTER AU TIME.

HARRY POTTER ϟ MEME

we have one of these every now and then and suddenly i can't stop writing DDD+Harry Potter AUs so now is as good of a time as any???? lmfao. ANYWAY, this is pretty self-explanatory; tell us about your character if they were part of the Harry Potter universe! go as far with it as you'd like, e.g. year, house, blood, wand, pet, favourite class, history, extracurricular activities, etc.!

really, if you want to just tell us what house they're in, that's cool too haha. ♥

if you want the official Pottermore information to help you pick a wand type, i gathered it up for you guys HERE! (don't click if you don't want to be spoiled for Pottermore info at all lmfao.) and there are a million quizzes out there for Sorting, haha.

so, tell us all about your characters if they were witches/wizards, everyone!!! *u*

I think James would be a Gryffindor. He's quite quite courageous so that fits. He's 17 so he'd be in his last year at Hogwarts. He is probably a half-blood or a pureblood. Most likely the latter. None of the woods on the list fit him but after some googling I found Mahogany which fits him best. His wand core I'm still uncertain about. He will, of course, have an owl. Her name is Snitch because he's obsessed with Quidditch. He's been both a Seeker and a Chaser as well as Captain because he is amazingly awesome.

More to come!

Grindelwald

[identity profile] darklycharming.livejournal.com 2011-09-25 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
Because this is kind of AU (since he went to Durmstrang not Hogwarts) or headcanon anyway... XD

House: Ravenclaw (although the hat did stall - he could also have gone into Gryffindor or Slytherin but intelligence managed to just pip reckless courage and ambition. I've done a ton of sorting quizzes for him in the past and most of the time he gets Ravenclaw, though it usually is borderline with the 2 others. He's just never a Hufflepuff.)

e.g. Two actual results from online quizzes:

Gryffindor - 13
Slytherin - 13
Ravenclaw - 10
Hufflepuff - 4

And:

52% Ravenclaw
36% Slytherin
28% Gryffindor
8% Hufflepuff

Blood: Pureblood, but he doesn't really care about such things.
Wand: (Old headcanon, not Pottermore checked and not made by Ollivander) Oak, sturdy, 11 1/2 inches, dragon heartstring

And the rest~ Houses only for now

[identity profile] darklycharming.livejournal.com 2011-09-25 03:11 am (UTC)(link)
11-12 - Ravenclaw
Cosmo - Umm.... Not sure. Help?
Jack - Gryffindor
JJ - Hufflepuff
Draco - Hmm.... Slytherin!

[identity profile] crackpotcrocker.livejournal.com 2011-09-25 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
Hufflepuff for Cosmo, I think

[identity profile] darklycharming.livejournal.com 2011-09-25 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
XD I was thinking that would probably have to be it. Not that he's hardworking as such... Maybe loyal. But Hufflepuff does take anybody anyway. And he's messy with magic but he's no squib.

[identity profile] crackpotcrocker.livejournal.com 2011-09-25 03:20 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I couldn't see Gryffindor cause he does whimp out.

Ravenclaw, ha ha ha. He's not the brightest crayon in the box.

Slytherin, he's not Anti Cosmo.

[identity profile] darklycharming.livejournal.com 2011-09-25 03:23 am (UTC)(link)
Definately not the other Houses, true.

[identity profile] crackpotcrocker.livejournal.com 2011-09-25 03:14 am (UTC)(link)
House; Slytherin. Not only is this the top house, next one is Ravenclaw, on tests. He also by the fandom to be thought of as Snape, as far as personality wise goes, if they would spoof HP fully. Though ambition wise he is Gellert. Scary cross, huh? However, since spoof's in FOP are based on personality, Snape. Definitly, Snape.

Blood; Half blood, not only is it fitting for the spoofing of Snape but also Crocker sort of really is one.

Wand: Unicorn Core,Wood: Willow, Length: 10 1/4 inches (This is pending as I'm going to make a Pottermore account for Crocker when it's open to the public and answer it ICly)

Patronus: Hyena

[identity profile] darklycharming.livejournal.com 2011-09-25 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
I'm curious where Pottermore would sort my Gellert to too. It'd be gerat if they released versions of the sorting and wand quizes just on their own!

[identity profile] crackpotcrocker.livejournal.com 2011-09-25 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think they will but those quizzes are very awesome on Pottermore and I was so so tempted to use my beta account for IC answering on those sections. ;;

Suppose we'll find out in a few weeks?

Though I do know Crocker will get sorted into Slytherin, he has that vengence seeking issue. XD
Edited 2011-09-25 03:27 (UTC)

[identity profile] darklycharming.livejournal.com 2011-09-25 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
Me too. I was like: should I make this account with my answers or Gellert's. XD So curious.

Gellert is cunning & ambitious but he's not sneaky. I asked way back in my journal what House others thought he'd be sorted to and everbody chose Revenclaw. (Not that he's studious... But he's clever, when you don't factor in Gryffindor recklessness. XD)

[identity profile] crackpotcrocker.livejournal.com 2011-09-25 03:41 am (UTC)(link)
Ikr? But I was like, this is a beta account. I can wait to make another account ICly.

[identity profile] crackpotcrocker.livejournal.com 2011-09-25 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
For the rest of mine;

Heinz - Slytherin (srs, have characters with vengence issues)
Jorgen - Gryffindor (He fears nothing!)
Dib - Gryffindor

Masamori is a half-blood, with his mother having been a Ravenclaw from a long line of wizards and his father a muggle with an interest in the occult. Masamori's wand is aspen with a unicorn hair core, 10 1/2 inches. Masamori was sorted pretty easily into Slytherin (he is ambitious as hell). He was a prefect for all years he was eligible, and a member of the dueling club. After graduating with top honors, he accepted a job with the Ministry of Magic and has formed a division that deals with magical creatures who threaten the muggle world directly (the division includes a variety of wizards with variously mixed heritages, and a werewolf). His younger brother Yoshimori, who due to a magical ritual in their family is due to inherit instead of Masamori, is currently a Gryffindor, while their youngest brother Toshimori has yet to receive his letter. Masamori's patronus is a giant koi.

why do I find Masa so easy to AU

Mai is a muggleborn witch. Her father died soon after she was born, so she was living alone with her mother when she received her letter. She was quickly sorted into Hufflepuff for her loyalty and modesty. She isn't very stellar in her classes, but passes well along the average. Her mother died during her third year, and so Hogwarts is really a home for her. She doesn't know what she will do when she finishes her last year and it worries her quite often. Oh, and she does have a habit to converse with the ghosts more often than most students.

[identity profile] aburningspirit.livejournal.com 2011-09-25 04:00 am (UTC)(link)
WELL let's just do Kamina for now.

He's a Muggleborn orphan; his mother died while young and his father left him in the care of an orphanage at around 6. He promised that he and Kamina would meet again one day so he should become the best man he can be until then. Hogwarts probably hates that man because his son decided to take his advice TO THE EXTREME.

7th year Gryffindor (the Hat had no issues Sorting him), he is loud, brave to the point of stupid, noble to the point of idiocy, and loyal to all lucky to call him a friend. One of the more popular kids. He will always be in the center of attention. Always.

His grades...are lacking. Thank God he has smart friends that make him study or he would never be eligible for a job outside of school. During summer breaks, he managed to get jobs at the Leaky Cauldron for room and board and Ollivander's as an assistant in payment for his wand (cypress, 12 inches, dragon heartstring core, surprisingly springy for someone with such a hard head; cost a bloody fortune). He doesn't buy much because he's saving up for a brand-new broom. Flying and Quidditch are his passions in life. Those, and chasing girls. Yes. So many girls.

Kamina has been announcer of school Quidditch matches since 4th year when the previous one got sick the day of and he was chosen by McGonagall as replacement. Everyone loved him so much that they wouldn't let the other kid come back when he felt better.

Goals in life: get hot wife, be Quidditch announcer for professional team, wear sweet shades.

HELL YES HPAU MEME AT 5AM LET'S DO THIS

The Doctor (v.ten) is a pure-blood wizard born into a family that doesn't care too much about blood purity. His wand would be sycamore and phoenix feather, 14 1/2 inches, and somewhat flexible. He's a Gryffindor who narrowly missed being sorted into Ravenclaw (he's a Hatstall) and as such, he wins a heck of a lot of points for his house just from being so bloody smart. Of course, because he's incurably curious and adventurous, he also loses almost all of those points all over again, so his house can't decide if they love him or want to strangle him. In his fourth year on one of his many escapades into the forbidden forest, he befriended a Hippogriff who became practically like his pet, who he named Idris. After leaving Hogwarts, he would go on to travel the world, learning more and more about magic and taking up as many jobs as possible, including a stint as a teacher at Hogwarts.

MORE IN A LITTLE BIT

[identity profile] loyalbound.livejournal.com 2011-09-25 04:35 am (UTC)(link)
Madoka is a muggle-born witch and a textbook Hufflepuff to the max. She's not particularly good at any subjects, although she does very well in Charms sometimes, but despite that, she thinks that if it was possible, she'd like to be a Healer. She can't fly a broom at all, can barely sit on one straight, but she's a very enthusiastic supporter at the Quidditch matches. She's also a staunch supporter of house unity and while she's not popular, everyone manages to like her if they know her. Her wand is Pear wood, unicorn hair core, 9 1/4 inches, and pliant.

[identity profile] loyalbound.livejournal.com 2011-09-25 01:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Castiel is the youngest brother from an old pure-blood family that can reputably trace its roots all the way back to an ancient Hebrew family of wizards. Whatever the case is, the majority of his family tend to look down in varying degrees on those with muggle heritage. They're not Dark by any means, but they are incredibly prejudiced and not entirely nice. Traditionally, everyone in the family tends to go into careers like auror, curse-breaker, Unspeakable or other Ministry of Magic employee - so basically, his family is pretty terrifying. Cas isn't particularly enamoured by any of these options, but unlike his sister Anna, who's pretty driven about what she wants to do (journalism and/or something in muggle relations) and completely prepared to run off and say "fuck you!" to their family, Cas... isn't. He's just kind of stuck doing the thing he's supposed to do.

Also, his second-oldest brother Lucifer is in Azkaban for attacking some Muggles when he was about nineteen. Their oldest brother Michael, an auror, put him there. CASTIEL'S FAMILY LIFE: KIND OF TWISTED AND MISERABLE.

Anyway. His wand is willow and unicorn hair, 11 3/4 inches, reasonably supple, he owns a tawny owl called Ester, and his patronus would take the form of a falcon. Once he got to Hogwarts, he was sorted into Hufflepuff (because hard work and stupid loyalty, sob). His marks are good but he doesn't really excel at anything in particular. However, he's good with Charms work, Ancient Runes and Defence Against the Dark Arts, and he's got a surprising talent for non-verbal magic. He's also an incredible flyer with a taste for speed - which would have made him ideal for a Seeker if he... actually had any interest in Quidditch, ahahaha. He just likes flying, he doesn't want to play your silly ball games 8| His sixth year is when he finally stands up and ditches his family.

... can you tell who i'd already thought this au out in stupid amounts of detail for...

Kasumi is a half-blood Hufflepuff prefect, seventh year. Her wand is pear and unicorn hair, supple, 9 1/2 inches. She has an owl named Suzume that flies letters home to her father daily. Her favorite classes are Charms and Herbology, she's decent at Potions and Transfiguration but only average in Defense Against the Dark Arts. When she graduates she's off to be a Healer~♥ On the weekends she tutors younger students in the library.

Kasumi's biggest adventure was discovering the kitchen. Late one night in her second year, too homesick to sleep, she crept into the common room and heard a scrape, scrape, scraping in the darkness. Heart pounding, she called up a light from her wand and in the beam she saw-- a house elf cleaning out the fireplace. Pinky was kind enough to show her a place to get a warm glass of milk. Really, Kasumi wishes the house elves would let her touch the stove, or at least part with a recipe. She cooked at home! She liked it!

OKAY I HAD A TON TYPED OUT AND THE FUSE WENT AND I LOST IT i shall do it bit by bit and in more detail

Sheryl is of mixed heritage-- both her parents were magical, but there's a fair amount of muggleborns in her family tree. After her parents died (killed by Death Eaters natch), she was sent to a muggle foster home. She didn't have a bad childhood; she was living with kind, decent people who provided for her, but nevertheless she leapt at the opportunity to go off to Hogwarts and do something really excellent. She's 100% a Gryffindor, 7th year, and excels at charms and flashy magic of all kinds. Her wand is phoenix feather and cypress, 12 inches, stiff but not brittle; she enjoys flying, but doesn't have the slightest desire to play Quidditch.

Vriska is a 3rd year Slytherin, from a long line of purebloods. Some might say that she overcompensates with the slyness and evil schemes to impress her mother (a distant woman who's apparently quite the black widow), but then some might end up with two black eyes and their nose on the back of their knee. She tried to invent Extreme Dueling, which consists of jumping at your opponent from around corners when they least expect it, and as a consequence was in detention half of second year. (The rules didn't specify your opponent had to know they were an opponent.) She's quite smart when she puts her mind to it, so her teachers encourage her to make friends in other houses who can temper her a bit-- because otherwise she'll probably end up doing real damage. Her wand is hawthorn and dragon heartstring, 10 inches, pliable.

this is going to be massive oh god let's break this up. RIVER IN HARRY POTTER WORLD:

Year: 4th
House: Ravenclaw; she was offered any by the Hat, and chose Ravenclaw on her own.
Blood: Pureblood; her parents are from two different upper class pureblood families, one English and one Chinese, so she was very well off.
Wand: Currently, Cedar wood, dragon heartstring core, 10 inches and supple. However, she's been through at least three other wands in her life; as a child, she was gifted with Hazel wood. During her time with the Death Eaters and in the Department of Mysteries, she was forced to try different wands to test her potential, and also because Hazel was no good for her in her new emotionally unstable state. She only remembers using a Silver Lime and a Walnut wand.
Pet: N/A. Sometimes she can be found with other people's pets, though.
Favourite Class: With the right teacher, DaDA. Otherwise, she likes everything.
Activities: None. She could do anything, but no one can get her to consistently commit to any of them. She'll show up at things for no reason sometimes, though.
History: oh boy.

At the age of 9, River was an exceptionally gifted girl; she showed promise in every area of magic, but most unusually, wordless and even wandless magic, and also Legilimency. In a Death Eater attack, she demonstrated an array of these skills, and one of them took particular interest in her, so she was kidnapped and used as an experiment, mostly relating to Legilimency and the mind, and the effects of various things on a person's magical ability. This continued for two years, during which areas of her mind were whittled away - particularly her amygdala, in line with canon - and in the end, her talents increased exponentially, but at the cost of her physical and mental health.

She was discovered at the age of 11 and taken away from the Death Eater, but from there, the Ministry of Magic realised that she was A) really, really dangerous; an unstable Legilimens, and a witch with absolutely no emotional control, and B) she knew way too many secrets, both of the Death Eaters and of the inner workings of the Ministry; she'd dragged secrets from the minds of every Death Eater she was ever exposed to, some of which worked secretly in the Ministry. So, instead of sending her back home, they put her away in the Department of Mysteries, where they continued to research and test her. She spent more years locked up in the Ministry. They pretended that she was in intensive care, and allowed her to write letters home to her family just so nobody got suspicious.

Her older brother Simon Tam did get suspicious, because River was writing her letters in code, and he decoded them. He found out where she was and decided to rescue her, which he managed to pull off one day when she was due to be transported to a Ministry in a different country. Not knowing what else to do, he took her to Hogwarts and begged for Dumbledore (or whoever the Headmaster may be in whatever AU haha) to keep her safe, and keep both the Ministry and the Death Eaters away from her - because for whatever reason, River still seems to be convinced (or, more accurately, extremely paranoid) that both are still pursuing her.

And so Hogwarts gains an emotionally unstable, crazy little uncontrolled Legilimens.

MINATSUKI

Year: 5th
House: Slytherin
Blood: Half-blood; mother was a witch, father was a Muggle.
Wand: Holly. Dragon heartstring. 10 1/2 inches. Stiff and brittle.
Pet: Armadillo named Kincho, fuck the police.
Activities: Beater on the Slytherin Quidditch team.
History: Minatsuki lived happily with her family for the first seven years of her life, with her Muggle father and her magical mother, who taught her and Yoh all the magic she knew. But when she was seven, Minatsuki was in a terrible earthquake that destroyed her house and nearly killed both her and her mother; during the earthquake, her mother tried to abandon her to save herself, and that moment created the personality Minatsuki has today. She crawled out of the wreckage when she woke and found her mother's body some distance away, not quite dead but barely alive. Minatsuki had little control of her magic, and in a moment of overwhelming fear and fury, killed her mother.

Her father and brother didn't know about what happened, and life continued on as before - but their father started to become abusive towards them, especially Minatsuki. It only got worse when Yoh went off to Hogwarts and wasn't around to protect her, and then he became even worse when Minatsuki followed; she was only at home during the holidays, so he became a lot more violent during those times. She killed her father at the age of 12, using the Killing Curse that she'd learnt about at Hogwarts.

She was automatically caught for using magic outside of school, and actually had been using magic outside of school a lot, mostly in fights with other kids (whether magic or Muggle) and even before she went to Hogwarts. She was going to be sent to Azkaban, since neither her nor Yoh could get her out of the charges considering the existence of wand-checks, but a Death Eater working in the Ministry took an interest in them and offered to help her out. He got her off the hook, but now she's caught in the debt of the Death Eaters; her and Yoh are forced to look for a way to get out of it without getting themselves killed.

DM.
House: HUFFLEPUFF In some weird twisted, way. The Sorting Hat had a really difficult time with her.
Year: 4th
Wand: Hawthorn. Unicorn hair. 10 inches.
History: Although she is vicious, she does hold a high regard for compassion and expresses it to those she actually gives a damn for. No one knows where she came from or how potent her magical blood is. What's important is that she's harmless as long as you don't harm her--or the people she cares about. The Ministry noticed how odd she was, tried to control her, and failed spectacularly. To get on her good side and possibly use in the future, they provided her with what she wanted: an opportunity to meet other people. So with a brand new set of books and something called a wand, she heads to Hogwarts.

Issun
House: Gryffindor
Year: 5th
Wand: Cherry. Instead of the typical core components, this wand’s core is something passed down in his family. It is white wolf fur or perhaps silky white hair; whatever the case, understanding its nature is impossible. 10.8 inches.
Blood: Mostly pure blood, with ancient traces of something mythical mixed in.
History: He's incredibly talented and bright, practically a genius with how easy learning comes to him. But he's oh-so-unmotivated that no one knows what he’s actually capable of. He likes to keep what he can do a secret. He skips class because he hates to study indoors, he turns in papers early because he wants the work to be done with, and run off to chill in Forbidden Forest because he stupid and brave and because he can. He gets into trouble often and is not well liked for all of the point deductions he causes. But it does not matter to him--Issun is only attending Hogwarts as a transfer because his grandfather is making him go.

Tails

[identity profile] forevermechanic.livejournal.com 2011-09-25 08:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Time to bring out the info I wrote for the Hogwarts virus, but updated.

House: Gryffindor
Year: Two
Blood Status: Half-blood
Family: Amadus Prower (Wizard father; living), Rosemary (Muggle mother; deceased)
Wand: 12", Dragon heartstring, and Holly wood
History: He was born to a father, who was a pro quidditch player, that was forced to retire because of some controversy with having a child out of a wedlock, and said mother being a muggle. Also, it was because of an injury he sustained, and therefore he wouldn't have been able to play anyway. His muggle mother died giving birth to him, so Tails grew up in the wizarding world with his father.

He was picked on by other children because of his father, so he didn't have many friends. During Tails' early life, he gained the nickname "Tails" due to a magical incident involving him gaining two fox tails (that was fixed after spending a month at St. Mungo's Hospital).

Rachel!!

[identity profile] negative-five.livejournal.com 2011-09-26 12:08 am (UTC)(link)
Year: 6th
House: Slytherin. She really just is a really conniving and questionable morality sort of person
Blood: Seeing as HP is a giant extended WWII metaphor anyway, and seeing as Rachel is Jewish, I'm going to go with her being Muggle-born, despite her Slytherin status.
Wand: Unyielding, and I'd give you the rest if pottermore let me LOOK AT WANDLORE >|;;
Pet: A cat, more than likely. Probably named it Melchior.
Favourite Class: CHOIR WITH PROFESSOR FLITWICK!!!

Prepare for Tl:DR

[identity profile] hok-ton.livejournal.com 2011-09-30 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
Karakael would be a Muggle-born orphan from Venice with vicious scars on his face and a specialty in transformation magic. Given that tendency, his familiar being a chameleon makes sense, as does his constant use of cosmetic magic. He would have been a scholarship student placed in Slytherin - not an easy combination, given his lack of heritage in magic, and so he went to a great expense to conceal his origins. He succeeded enough to be accepted as prefect his final year, and went on to join the ministry through the political side. He represented his native country, but eventually resigned in disgrace when his lowly birth was revealed and his Dark backing evaporated. He is a surprisingly good orator, but was known to be decietful in politics and was accused often of spying and laying false rumors. Most considered his resignation an appropriate comeuppance.

He now teaches Charms and Transfiguration in a small school in Southeast Asia. He can be frightening as a professor and is always pushing his students further than they think they can go. His spells are flamboyant and creative, and he has a relatively profitable hobby of making spelled masks. The fact that many of his masks have no magic at all consistently shocks some of his students, but he is a great favorite among the Muggle-born students due to his background and familiarity with the Muggle world. Though he never spoke on the matter as a politician, fearing loosing popularity, he does support the controversial idea of ending the Masquerade, and finds living in the more spiritually open East refreshing.

Originally he used an Elm wand, but after his fall he switched to the more comfortable Pine. Similarly, the length changed when he had less to hide and fewer goals; shortening from 13 to 11 inches. The extreme flexibility and dragon heart-string core remained the same, however, as does his nebulous character.
